I hope this doesn’t offend anyone

But, I think a change to the way members are posting to the blog would be very helpful. Those members that use bloglines might agree.
The first year of the sock club, the blog was great. Someone would post that their shipment arrived, and most of the members would add a comment that theirs arrived also. Last year, that changed and instead of members adding a comment, they would add a new post.
Just today there were 18 new posts with members being excited about the new shipments. For those of us who use bloglines….that looks like 18 new posts.
I guess what I am saying is that there is an easy way to clean up the blog and not have it be hard to weed through to find important posts. I am not saying that everyone shouldn’t be excited….sheesh I can hardly stand waiting for the shipment next week.
I hope I haven’t offended anyone, but honestly, last year I quit reading the blog because of the volume of multiple posting on the same topic. I would rather knit the beautiful yarn that we are all so lucky to receive!

This sounds good to me, too.
This sounds like a great idea. However new members need to learn how to use the system and that means learning how to comment versus how to post. Things will quite down as we all get up to speed on the new blog. Glad to have you back aboard and here’s to smooth sailing in this new year. Happy Knitting, Alice
I’m going to give the blog a try, but personally I think a bulletin-board format would be much easier to work with.
I’m with you. I logged in last night and stopped reading quickly. I trust we’ll all learn.
I totally agree. A post followed by comments is plenty. No need to have individual posts for everything. Perhaps do a post from the Blog Moms about how to comment versus how to post.
I agree. ( I opted to comment on an existing entry rather than make a new one myself last night.)
How many members are there anyway?
A lot!!! A whole lot! Actually you know how there are measurements for things like a peck, a bushel….
We need something for a freakin lot of sock knitters.
We will probably not have final numbers for a couple of weeks.
About the same as last year which was 2,000. More than a bushel.

I was going to say we are an Absurdity of Knitters, but Tina would slap me, so inspired by the majestic lion, Tina, perhaps we are a Pride of Knitters!
Absurdity of Knitters is very descriptive LB. When you think of it, dealing with 2000 knitters IS insanity, but Tina and crew can pull it off very succesfully. If we still had a bird theme going we could be a flock, or a clutch, or a gaggle. A pride would work well too, LB. Let’s not go with a herd.

I agree to all - its my first year.. ! Not much to say yet. As I am Canadian I can’t wait to see the shipment come in.. Although I still have so much left on the needles.
I gravely apologize as one of the newbies who did not realize a new post would “clog” the system and that I should only post a comment. But I’m a fast learner and I will not do it again…okie dokie? Thanks y’all!
Absurdity is good in my book. Now to go check out what everyone is saying on Ravelry.
Teresa you’re welcome and its ok that you did a post not a comment. Not all of us have bloglines and rss feeds etc etc so not all of us feel overtaken by individual posts however for those that do I’m glad you’ve learned that comments are a good thing (and if you have a new topic or a question a new post is a good thing too). I am finding I like having that list of posts at the side of the current post. Makes dial-up navigation a lot faster.
What difference does it make if you have 31 new posts to look at, or 2 new posts and 29 comments? Just sayin’.

Yarn Harlot always refers to us as a Whack of knitters, I kind of like that one.
ohh I forgot about YH’s Whack and don’t forget she also refers to us as The Blog. So maybe we should get her to ask The Blog what a whole bunch of knitters that join the BMFA sock club should be called. But Absurdity or Whack makes perfectly sense to me. Yarn Harlot has also said that you must be some special sort of crazy to spend a lot of time knitting something you can buy at the store for $1.99…that’s us, right?
