Notorious Sock Knitters | January 17, 2008
I’m still recovering from Tina asking me to be a Blog Mom. This may be like asking the cat to watch the mice. I’ll try to behave (what’s a have?) and answer questions and be encouraging.Welcome to all the new members! I think you’ll find this a fun and informative place to visit. Here’s a FYI Head’s Up to start with.If you don’t want to know what the kits look like in advance of receiving yours you may want to stay away from this site (and Ravelry) once you find out that Blue Moon has shipped the first kits. Some one usually gets all excited and immediately posts a picture of their kit. (Opps!) Someone here will try to catch those and move them to the “warning spoilage” category but that’s closing the barn door after the animals have escaped. (I think that’s one of my jobs as Blog Mom but they haven’t told me what all I’m expected to do yet.)Any way, I’m looking forward to another great year of Socks That Rock! Hope everyone enjoys the journey. Happy Knitting, AliceĀ

Does being a Blog Mom mean you have to behave?
Tina already called me trouble here in the first 24 hours.
Catch me if you can, I’m running with the Gingerbread Dude!
Hope you have a lot of fun being Blog Mom this year.
Cool Alice! How exciting! I can’t wait for another fun filled year! Good luck…i’ve never had a knitting mom before and have always wanted one!!! Tina, great to hear from BMFA, i missed you guys for 2 weeks!!
Out of curiosity, does putting something in the “Warning Spoilage” category keep it from showing up on the main blog or put behind a link as with the “cuts” in Livejournal?
Don’t worry. You’ll be a great Blog Mom. And remember, Behave is extremely close to Beehive. Imagine the chaos, but enjoy the honey.
I really like how you think, KnittingSarah!
Oh Alice, that is so cool. Last year I always scanned to your comments because I knew I would learn something. Thanks, Mom!
Gee, Thank you everyone.
I’m not quite sure how category changing works but what I plan to do is copy the post, then repost it (and any comments it has collected) in the spoilage category then once I’m sure it’s up in that category deleting the original. I’ll have to work out some way for the original poster to get proper credit for the post because it’ll show up under my name the way I have it planned out right now. I’ll talk to the techies and see if they have a better suggestion.
LBinVA check out what I wrote about Gingerbread Dude in last year’s “Scattegories” post. Happy Knitting everyone. Alice
PS I get to have a split personality! Blog Mom Alice and Alice in the Heartland. Its anybody’s guess how I’ll be signed in. I’m still learning how to manage both of us on the same blog especially in the comments section. More Happy Knitting, Alice
Footsy Foo with YOUR Gingerbread Dude, Alice?
Oh, what a fickle dude he is!
Tina needs to have a talk with him!
I’m finding that posts that come up in the Blue Moon blue box (like Tina’s and Alice’s) are missing parts of some lines of type. Sometimes hitting “Refresh” fixes this and sometimes not. Doesn’t happen with comments from civilians. Is anyone else having this problem?
hi phoebe, what web browser are you using, and what kind of computer? i’ll try to troubleshoot but first i have to duplicate the error you are seeing.
it would be great to know what version of the browser you are using, too. you can usually find that information by selecting the Help menu and choosing the About option. you’ll usually get a little window with the version number in it. let me know what you find out!
I have the same issue with the blue box sometimes missing information. I am using explorer version 6. something
I sure hope the problem isn’t because I use Safari on my Mac. I’m glad we have guardian web angels to check out these type glitch things. Thanks Susie!
I use Safari on my Mac,too,Alice, and I see the blue box fine. What I find funny is there is a pink box at the top of the home page that comes and goes.
Well, doh..I just figured out the pink box goes away when I’m logged in. Oh, stop laughing at me!
But it’s so much fun! and as a caregiver to a cancer/stem cell transplant survivor I need all the giggles I can get. Thanks LBinVA. Happy Knitting!
