Roommate Wanted

Camp Crows Feet, Notorious Sock Knitters | January 22, 2008
By Christina Langdon

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a roommate for Camp Crowe’s feet to share the cost of the room.  I live in Maryland and plan on flying in on Monday to Seattle.  I will then be taking the seaplane directly to Rosario Resort.  If anyone is interested you may post in the comments or email me at cmlangdon78@yahoo.com.  This will be my sophmore year and I can’t wait!!!

If there’s still space, I’m contemplating going to camp (for the first time). Do you remember how much (ballpark, of course) it cost you for total hotel and Seattle-to-resort-and-back transportation? I might be able to get a frequent-flyer Dulles or BWI to Seattle ticket.

If I do go, I’d need a roommate, too, which is part of why I’m asking. Of course, I misplaced the flyer that came with our club kit, so I can’t even remember what the camp cost is!

The cost of camp is 655.00 this year and the rooms should be 99.00 per night. Last year my mom went with me and we rented a car, which I believe was about 200.00. We drove to the ferry and took the ferry to orcas island. This year I am flying into seattle and taking the seaplane directly to the resort. I believe there will be another flyer in the next kit you will receive. I have already had someone respond to my ad and have found a roommate. I hope I answered your questions, hope to see you at camp.

Hi Christina,

Lou here — I was at camp last year. I may need a roomie. I made an arrangement with someone over on Ravelry, but I haven’t heard back from her confirming she’s going and still wants to room with me. I don’t snore — as long as I’m on my allergy meds. I’m low maintenance too so I won’t be hogging the bathroom. I already have a room reservation in my name.

Hi there. I’ve been trying to get into camp since I got accepted for a space in this year’s club. Hope to go, and will definitely need a roomie if I do. For anyone flying in, I’d happily get you at the airport shuttle (pretty cheap vs other alternatives) and you can overnight here at my house; we could drive the short distance to the ferry in Anacortes in my car. That could save one of you on transportation costs. I’m in the southernmost edge of the islands, the drive to Anacortes is about 30-40 minutes depending on weather/traffic, and the ferry is about an hour or more, but you’ve never a guarantee you’ll be on the first ferry out after you’ve arrived.

The ferry system here is in a world of hurt this year; they’ve pulled several ferries out of service permanently, and some are out for repair, but it’s making everyone scramble. Good thing we all knit while we wait to get on. We spent Christmas on San Juan, and missed “our” ferry by 2 cars, so we had a 3 hour wait until the next ferry. You learn to take snacks, a book, and knitting… so everyone should plan accordingly.

I am like Lou, I generally do not snore unless I am allergic to something in the room, and I do have my meds with me. I’m also low maintenance, but admit to being a night owl.

I just checked my Ravelry messages, and my roomie had replied to my message so I’m good to go with a roommate for camp. I’m sure you will find one either here or over on Ravelry (the Socks that RAWK group).

Anyone else still looking for a roommate? I’m a little slow on the uptake and I’m just finally starting to make plans. :)
