The campaign to bring back Prove It All Night

Notorious Sock Knitters | January 22, 2008
By Nartian

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all having a happy new year and that your new sock club packages get to you a speedily as possible.  I’m still working on my Cat Bordhi sock, so I’m not in a super big rush to get mine. ;)

But what I would like to do is to ask Tina to bring back Prove It All Night to the website (when you get a chance of course).  Please!  Pretty, pretty please.

Lets show Tina that there’s enough of us that want it.  So all you that want Prove It All Night, back me up!

(That goes for any other classic BMFA colorway that we want back for the next website update too!)

I’m a Chapman Springs fan, myself. ;) I just Googled to see Prove It All Night - it’s yummy, too!

So many colorways to love, so little time and yarn funds, LOL…

I don’t know about anyone else, but I have never seen Prove It All Night. Any chance we can see a picture of the color?

As a BMFA and Bruce fan (and a former “Jersey Girl”) I would LOVE for this colorway to come back!

Chapman Springs is very pretty. I made a pair of Cedar Creek socks in it, and they’re wonderful!

I would love to be able to order Prove It All Night and Chapman Springs. I have seen FOs on Ravelry and have wished for both.

You know the one that I’ve been after for a long time (looking at the flickr photos reminded me) is Rockstar. I’ve been stalking festivals for it but have yet to have found it. I was, however, fortunate to have gotten my hands on some Prove it All Night at Stiches.

Hunh, that’s a lot like the colors of my alma mater. Why is it called Prove It All Night?

I so badly want Prove It All Night, Jewel of the Nile, Sapphire, Azure Malachite, Seastone, and Iolite brought back! I need more STR in my stash!

Jewel of the Nile! Jewel of the Nile!

I would love to see Sapphire brought back. I came across one skein at the MD sheep and wool this past year and fell in love. I want it in the laci for a shawl. Purty, Purty Please Tina:)

Wow!

I will say that there are those that I have seen here that will be back very, very soon.

Tan you do not live in a foreign country. Your last name starts with an S and you did not order a binder. hhmmm wonder when yours is shipping.

I LOVE Rockstar but every time I put it up it does not sell well.

ok back to it

Oh my! I have never seen Prove It All Night, but I can say that I would buy it just because I like the name. The same reason I asked Santa for (and received) Pond Scum. Must have Prove It All Night………………..

On January 22nd, 2008 at 8:48 pm Lindsay said:

Ack! How can people not buy Rockstar?!? I drove out to The Fold last summer from Maryland and found it in Twisted ( I think). I LOVE that color!

On January 22nd, 2008 at 9:04 pm Tina Newton said:

maybe we need a Rockstar mission

color story

two years ago when I was taking my son to Portland Community College. there at the bus stop was a young woman who from head to toe (top down embodied this colorway, she was the most colorfully striking person I have ever come across. she wore it very well. she was a Rock Star, it poured out of every cell. that was where this colorway came from. the brightest part was her head.

On January 22nd, 2008 at 10:22 pm IrishgirlieKnits said:

Yay!! I’ve been asking for Prove it All Night for awhile (well, since OFFF)! And I was going to ask for Rockstar too, Tina!! Oh, and you know, since we’re making suggestions :) Hwy 30, Harlotty (which I have but love love love), and Faulty Dyer (another one that I have…but you know, a girl could always use a bit more!).

And, more De-Vine yarn…pretty pretty please :)

On January 23rd, 2008 at 6:08 am Easter Christopher said:

Now that I’ve seen Rockstar, I can promise you a sale of at least 2 skeins of Twisted! (I’ve been thinking of a second Clapotis since I love my Fire on the Mountain version so much.)

So change my vote to Jewel of the Nile! Rockstar! Jewel of the Nile! Rockstar!

How about Puck’s Mischief? I have a friend who is dying to get her hands on that…

How does one get on RAV?

So if we are seriously going to lobby for the return of Rockstar, how can WE help make sure that it sells? (The not selling is simply crazy) Sure there’s Word of Mouth and some Ravelry gushing, but what else?

Perhaps a “Rockin to the Oldies” series? Or a special sock kit–so sort of RSC teaser available to everyone. Tina can take all the ideas with a grain and we cal see where it gets us…..

Rock Star knee socks!

I’m making Jaywalkers w/ “Puck’s Mischeif” right now. It IS a beautiful colorway…

Isn’t it funny how we always want what we cant’t have (at least for now)? But I sure would place a vote for Prove It All Night too. Sorry Tina, your head must be always spinning. We’re a fiesty group!

On January 23rd, 2008 at 7:17 am Tina said:

and this is soo true.

So I have to give some colors a rest in order to add new ones because there just are not that many of us here.

So what could you live with out for a while. Keep in mind they are not gone they will come back they will be at shows….at the stores that carry STR.

I’ve made Rock and Weave anklets with Highway 30–it is the very definition of gorgeousness. I have a bunch left over (even for size 10.5 feet, R&W is a yarn-thrifty pattern. I made it in X-mas Rock, too). I’m predisposed to liking Hwy 30, though….I was anti-pink for decades, but I’ve embraced the pink-and-green combination over the past few years.

I have a skein of Jewel of the Nile picked up from The Fold at MD Sheep&Wool last May. It’s marinating in my stash with several other STRs currently not available (Heartstone, etc.).

Nadine, do you mean Ravelry? You go to http://www.ravelry.com and put your name on the waiting list, and then they invite you to join. It takes a couple of weeks to work your way to the top of the list is all.

I’d like to pipe in and reiterate some old faves that I’d like to see: Prove it all night (of course), Mist, Garnet, Smoky Topaz, Azurite, Highway 30, Waterlilies, Azure Malachite, and Romancing the Stone. Oldies but goodies! Although I haven’t see Jewel of the Nile so I can’t vote either way, but so many people can’t be wrong, right?

On January 23rd, 2008 at 7:34 pm Linda said:

Oh, and I left off Cobalt Bloom! One of my all-time faves. LUV.

I just wanted to chime in to 2nd (3rd? 4th?) Highway 30 - love that color. Haven’t seen Rockstar, but it sounds interesting. And Malachite is my favorite semi-precious stone, so that one must be good, too!

On January 25th, 2008 at 12:08 pm happystasher said:

I haven’t seen Rock Star either, but by the name, I’m sure I’d love it. I’d love to get some Jewel of the Nile. And Highway-30.

OK, I need to say that I have always loved Prove It All Night. I purchased a skein waaaay back (maybe from Toni at The Fold?)…but alas, it was a gift for a friend’s mother. So I guess if it came back, I would make the sacrifice and purchase a skein for me to add to my STR stash! (Gads, I hate it when I have to create further sub-stashes! Would this be added to a “STR Stash”, a “Classics” Stash, a “We Whined and We Got It!” Stash…?!-LOL

I found Puck’s Mischief AND Chapman Springs at my LYS two weeks ago and grabbed them all…in any case I’d love puck’s mischief back so I can get more, and other than that, I vote for Jewel of the Nile, it’s gorgeous!!!
