Camp Crows Feet | January 27, 2008
I was at sock camp last year, and I’m sure some of you remember me since I am a bit of a troublemaker.
I’m so excited to be going again this year! Do any of you have plans to get together for a Seattle yarn crawl before camp or carpool to Anacortes? I’ll be flying in and staying with family over the weekend for my birthday but if people wanted to meet up early on Monday that would be fun.
For all of you who are looking forward to your first year at sock camp, it was a BLAST! I didn’t get half as much knitting done as I thought I would. Last year they sent out an info pack before camp telling us what supplies we needed and giving some “homework” to complete before camp.
I guess the only real “tip” I have is that most of Orcas Island isn’t open (it’s not the tourist season yet) so food options for dinner are pretty much limited to eating at the resort - but don’t worry they have a pretty good range of food. We did go out one time while I was there to a really nice little restaurant, but I think it was one of very few that were open. The resort is also pretty far out of the main “town” area so it’s not easy to just pop over there all the time.
Oh and get to the ferry early!
Hope to see you there!

Thanks for the good info - soooo exciting. Will be my first time. Looking forward to meeting you.
I wanna go, but I am doing a marathon that weeked
Oh well. I will settle for reading about it from y’all
What trouble maker? You got nothin’ on me kid! Looking forward to more good times. Happy Knitting, Alice (in the Heartland)
Well, I signed up, and this will be my first year. I am so excited, it is one of the main reasons I wanted to join the sock club was to go to camp. Of course the yarn and goodies aren’t bad either. LOL!!!
Thanks for the advice about the ferry. I’m coming up with a friend, and I think she has some plans to visit with colleagues before we make it to Rosario, so no yarn crawl for me. I’ll be in Seattle a month later for another trip. Are you also going to be on Seasocks ‘08? I thought I saw a comment in a Ravelry thread about that. If so, I will see you there, too.
I haven’t made reservations yet, but I’m thinking a yarn crawl should be in my future. After all I’ve never been to Washington before…(does it seem like I’m reaching here?) Anyway, I’m flying in from Michigan and might come a day or two early.
I will be driving from the Eugene, OR area and my DH suggested driving up on Sunday and staying in the Seattle area so that I could get to the ferry early. I would love a yarn crawl and meeting people before camp. Will appreciate any suggestions on places/city to stay on Sunday night. If anyone needs a one way ride to camp I have room. Virginia
Hey Stariel!! I’ll be coming to camp again! I’m very excited. I’m flying into Seattle on Saturday and staying with a college friend then I’ll be meeting up with two other campers on Monday morning. We my or may not stop for a yarn crawl on the way — more likely on the way back — since I’ve been hearing about the ferries filling up and the shortage of working ferries right now, I’m nervous about catching one.
I’d love to go to that restaurant again one night — it was so yummy!
Lou
