January '08 Kit Questions | January 31, 2008
I am just starting the lace part. I am fairly new to knitting (Apr of ‘07) and this is my 4th pair of socks and the first using magic loop. I am starting the lace and did the first row. I am sure it is obvious that 11 stiches in the pattern repeat does not divide nicely into 64 stiches of the sock. My question is (before I get too far down the leg and find I messed up) is when I get the the end of the first row there are only 2 stiches of the k4 of the pattern, do I k4 and then start my next row from there (2 stiches in on the first needle)? If so, where do I put the marker or does is just move to mark where the next odd numbered row starts? Thanks in advance for any tips.

I am not looking at my pattern (taking a break at work) but if I remember correctly - after you finish the inch of rib you knit a row increasing two stiches evenly spaced. At that point you should have 66 stiches and be ready to start your first row of the 11 stitch lace repeats.
Hope this helps.
That is correct, in a plain row between the rib cuff and the lace pattern you should increase twice (evenly spaced) to get up to 66 sts.
Thanks! I knew I would get my question answered!
Also- I rearranged my stitches so I have 22 on one needle and 33 on the other (size small 55 stitches/ 11 stitch repeat). Using 2 circs. Otherwise I had k2tog at the end- impossible.
