Notorious Sock Knitters | January 27, 2008
(I’m a first-year NSN, enjoying my first shipment and all the excitement. The title has nothing to do with anything except to be giddy!)
I love everything! And am super impressed with the people who are already knitting their socks. I think I need to gaze at my skein for a little while (plus, I have a self-imposed moratorium on starting another pair of socks until these blasted Noro socks are complete - normally I crank on sock knitting, but between the yarn & working too much, these are NOT going as fast as I’d hoped.) I did unpeel my label once I read other people’s posts about different names - My skein says “Tarasque“. What a cool thing to do! And I’m trying to figure out if I can convert the sticker to a window cling. (Seriously? Any kind of knitting window clings and I’d be all over it. Maybe I need to invent some. I’m too princess-ey about stickers and paint jobs and what nots with the car, but I’d fill my back window with knitting announcements! LOL!)
I saw on the map there’s another person from the Kansas City area - anyone else from here who hasn’t put their pin on the grid?

in case there are people out there reading this blog and not wanting to have the surprises in the new kit revealed please take a “blog break” until your kit arrives. People who have already received the kit have questions that need answers and this really should be the place to come with those questions to get answers. Some may be going to Ravelry and that’s fine but not everyone has a membership there or are on dial-up which makes Ravelry hard to navigate. So to avoid any cries of “my kit was spoiled because of the internet” do yourself the favor of avoiding places like this.  I’m hoping everyone who already has their kits is having a good time and are checking in so they can ask and answer questions under the “January Kit or Knit HELP!” categories. I also hope that the bloglines/rss feed folks are pleased with the way most everyone seems to be on board with the “more comments - less new posts” we’re trying to encourage this year on the blog. It’s looking pretty good to me and I thank everyone for that. Happy Knitting everyone! Blog Mom Alice

After the initial 1″ of K2, P2 rib, the pattern says to “Knit 1 round” (for size L). Â I’m assuming that means actually knit all stitches, not work one more round of K2, P2. Â Is that right?

is anyone else having trouble getting the stripe effect shown in the photos? I’ve cast on from different color sections and frogged three times now… mine just keeps pooling the lights on one side not all neatly spaced out. Could it be because I’m making the large size? I’m so disappointed, this is my first time in the RSC and I was so excited to start!
January '08 Kit Questions | January 26, 2008
What do I do with the small little wrapped extra yarn. Is that to be used to knit the gauge?
I am confused where to measure on my foot and leg to figure out what size to make.

Just took my yarn off the swiff and eager to start… i am not going to swatch because i have already knitted with STR lightweight before… love, love, love BUT… what is the mystery inside the yarn label!!! Someone hinted to this on the “Yarn arrived” blog but haven’t heard anyone talk about it any more. My mom’s “inside label” picture and words are different than mine… is it code for the dye lot or the dye artist?????? WASSUP??? Also… can we buy more of this yarn… and in a heavy weight???? Bye for now… i must knit!!!!!!!!!

Is anyone bringing kids and a spouse/sitter to camp?
For that matter, Is anyone vehemently opposed to kids being there?Â
