Heel Help with DPNs

General Knitting Questions | February 21, 2008
By Marlene

Most of the heel questions seem to be asked by people using 2 circulars. I am using 4 DPNs (3 with stitches, 1 working needle). I haven’t even started the lace part yet and am already perplexed about how to divide the stitches among the needles once I start the lace, and then how to adjust them (if necessary) to make the heel work.

I assume for the lace I just need to have multiples of 11 on each needle. Then what? I am making the Medium socks so I am working with 66 stitches.

The lace part doesn’t worry me. But I just don’t “get” the heel directions. (I have only made sox with heel flaps - never a short row heel, so that’s the root of this problem I guess.)

I appreciate any wisdom you all can share.

Use up that extra yarn.

Notorious Sock Knitters | February 20, 2008
By Cabledguy

I came up with a pattern to use up the leftover yarn, my wife was just to happy with the color to leave a bunch lying around.  Thought I’d share it with everyone else, I would have posted earlier, but I wanted to write up the pattern so it was ready when I posted.  You can find the pattern on my blog, www.cabledguy.com , or you can look it up in ravelry, I just posted it there to. Have fun.Petals A Plenty

2007 club patterns

Notorious Sock Knitters | February 20, 2008
By Angela

Just wondering if and when the sock patterns from last year’s sock club will go on sale.  I really did not start knitting socks until last summer and did not find BMFA until a couple of months after there, so I was not in the club last year.  But there are a few patterns I would love to have.  Thanks, Angela

Sock Photos - January

Gallery, January '08 Kit Questions | February 19, 2008
By Gayle in California

Many of us are not members of Ravelry, and therefore cannot see the pictures that are being posted there. Flickr is a photo site that is accessible by anyone. So how about a Rockin’ Sock Club 2008 Flickr site again this year? Can someone set that up? I’d like to see all of your great lookin’ socks!ETA by Blog Mom Alice: This is the place to post your links and pictures. Looking forward to seeing some beautiful FO’s.

yarn pooling

General Knitting Questions | February 19, 2008
By Kristin

Well, it’s too late for me, my sock has blotches of color instead of stripes but I’m curious. How do you prevent pooling on a sock? Don’t get me wrong, I love the way my sock looks but there must be some sort of trick…

Longest Sock…let’s make it so!

Notorious Sock Knitters | February 15, 2008
By Leslie

OK, I think I got the ok from Tina…but at any rate, Tan has offered up one of her mill ends to start this up and I have offered to get this thing off the ground! There are a couple of ideas running around in my mind, so I don’t really want to set too many specifics to this, yet. Of course, if someone wants to add ideas, please do so. I may just ‘let it happen’!-lol!Oh, and not only has Tan offered up her mill end, she has graciously offered to start the toe on our Rockin’ Sock Club Longest Sock Feat-or shall I say, “feet”! (har har…I’m not good at punniness, but that was my lame attempt!)So Tan will start this off and send to me. Remember Tina’s dream she wrote of in her first Dyer’s Notes of this year about the longest sock being knit by many different club members? She said each person did six rows each. In keeping with that, I would like to ask that each person knit six rows, then pass it on so that we can keep it going.I think the easiest would be to pass it on to the closest participant you can actually hand it off to before offering it up to mail out.I am also thinking about how to track/log this, but it may get to be too much. We can make the attempt anyway. Details will come as this unravels…or should I say ‘knits’ up?I’ll keep you all posted as to how this will unfold.
