Notorious Sock Knitters | February 07, 2008
OK, so I received my kit yesterday (in England) and would be all ready to cast on apart from the fact that I can’t find any needles of the right size. I hate DPN’s (sorry, but it’s true), 2 circs at a time is OK, but I really want to try and Magic Loop these beauties 2 at a time. I cannot find any 2.25mm 100cm (40″) needles anywhere. Get Knitted are the only UK stockist of Knit Picks needles and don’t yet stock this size. Knit Picks won’t ship to me as I live in England. Hiya Hiya make this size, but again, the UK stockist doesn’t currently have this size. Addi don’t make this size either. What do I do? Give up and use the pointy DPN’s? I want to enjoy this pair of socks though…. I don’t want to end up spending a fortune on shipping.Any bright ideas (or stockists that I don’t know about) welcome. :)

I am nearly in tears right now. I came home from work and found my yarn had become the dog’s chew toy. Not only is it a tangled mess, but it has been chewed through in at least 2 places. There is no way I am going to be able to make my socks and not have the striping pattern totally messed up . I don’t know what to do. All I can do is cry.
General Knitting Questions | February 05, 2008
I am just now knitting up the Marble Arches pattern…and my question is…Do I follow the right-twist chart first then do the left-twist chart next or do I do these alternately for each row? I am a little confused about that or maybe I am just tired and need to rest up before I continue. Thanks for any help in advance.

Camp Crows Feet | February 05, 2008
So. I was talking to my husband, and the oft mentioned topic of my desire to go to camp came up. For various reasons, we had made a joint decision (I’m coming from Boston, so it’s not just the cost of the camp - there is travel, time away from work, blah blah blah) for me to not go. He finally just broke down and said, “Babe, if you want to go that badly, just sign up. We’ll figure it out’.
WOOT!!!! I’m so freaking excited I can’t even portray it here on the blog. I had such an awesome time last year… I’m already counting down the days.

I think I’m on the fourth time frogging my socks.. maybe it’s the fifth now. The first few times were my attempts to make gauge. And then other mistakes made me rip one back to the 2×2 ribbing.
I’m working on two full sets of DPNs, hoping that doing the socks (almost) at the same time would keep my gauge even, but.. no! My second sock has totally different striping. I did one repeat and then switched socks and.. bleh. Here we go again!
Wish me luck this time around? I’m not sure I can stand to frog again. I never knew I’d be so dang nit-picky! I found out that half my lace pattern is off by one stitch on the first sock, and I can’t decide to pull that one back, too, or make it a ‘design element!’. Argh!
I’d be done by now if I hadn’t started over so many times.
In the end, I know what I’m doing wrong, I just seem to keep making other small mistakes. Is anyone else finding they are as exacting with “perfection” as I am?
