Any updates for Serendipity?

January Kit Questions | March 16, 2008
By Mary

I figured the real advantage of waiting til March 16th to start my January socks was that pattern updates would be available - but I’ve searched here and on ravelry and haven’t found any.  Did come across some very helpful tips for short row heels (these will be my first, so that’s much appreciated!) and clarification around placement of the heel/foot stitches and starting the star toe on round 4 (for a size M).  But that’s it - are there really no updates?  Thanks!

If you are asking for an errata, as far as I know, there are no mistakes in the pattern, and it is pretty straightforward. Especially since the wraps of the shortrow heels are not picked up, it is that much easier.

As far as the heel/foot stitch placement, I did it with dpns so I used 2 stitch markers so I wouldn’t get mixed up when switching from foot to heel on the same needle.

There is plenty of info on ravelry, everything has been *wooshed* in one thread (in the STR group).

My only comment is that I did the sock on “O”s because my gauge was a bit schloopy, and that while I did the larger sock, I did the smaller heel. The lace pattern is one that a knitter can assimilate, and not be tied to the pattern while knitting the leg and foot. Simple and pretty.
Have fun!

Whooshing here will commence when March kits start arriving at knitters’ doorsteps. When that will be is up to Tina and the Sockateers. As for updates the pattern seems to be correct as written some folks have been confused by the 30something heel stitches and where they come from and go to. Check the designer’s notes for suggestions and I know some the other Heel posts have talked this. Happy Knitting, Alice
