It was quite the sight this morning. Ours has melted now, but daffodils in snow is a strange thing!

WOW!! Where is BMFA located? Am I the only one who doesn’t know?

I’d love to see some flowers! Right now it’s snowing like crazy in the Chicago area and I’ll be spending another evening shoveling the driveway.

In the woods of Oregon.

I took a picture this morning (as I ran out the door to work) of snow on my daffodils too — but they’re only an inch high yet. :-(
It’s been a cold, snowy March. I’m hoping for a yarn antidote! Since I’m pretty sure the March Kit won’t be white or gray, it’s GOT to be an antidote to winter!

So since I occasionally dip down into Oregon from Washington, is there an actual BFMA store we could visit if we were in the area Tina?!

Farmhouse Knit Shop and Twisted both carry our yarns. We have yet to open up anything ourselves in Scappoose but are looking into it. This is strictly production up here in these lovely hills.

What other shows do you exhibit at == I know I missed you at madrona fiber arts! :( Any others in Oregon or WA??? I would love to get one of those rare gems one day! Know of course there’s sock camp but that’s too “rich” for my budget unfortunately.

I’d love a rare gems too, but not much chance for me because I live in Utah, and am not close to the shows. :) *sigh* Beautiful picture BTW. I love to see Daffodils in the snow.

I am trying to find a way to sell rare gems on the site.
It is hard because you kind of have to buy blind. I cannot afford to photograph all of them every time… .

On March 21st, 2008 at 2:57 pm Twinkerbell said:

Lol, I don’t mind buying blind :D The sock club is a little like that, it’s “like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get.” And always more fun in someways, because it seems every skein turns out just gorgeous.

On March 21st, 2008 at 3:46 pm Gretchen said:

I agree with, uh, Twinkerbell - buying STR blind isn’t really an issue with me - it is like the sock club. Think on it…

On March 21st, 2008 at 5:39 pm Knitter Kitter said:

I third that about buying rare gems blindly. I’d love to have a skein (who am I kidding? I’d love a LOT more than one skein) and I’d gladly buy it blindly. The surprise of it would be fun… After all, that’s part of the fun of the sock club :) Please, please, please with sugar on top?!?

I will add my “me too” to willingness to buy rare gems blindly! I definitely wouldn’t need a photo–maybe a simple clue as to the main color though? Ala : olive green or azure or mostly pinks? But even without that, I’d be up to own my very own rare gem! :) See Tina, you’ve got us hooked!!!!

On March 21st, 2008 at 8:46 pm Tina said:

Soo if I added a Rare Gem Circle that was blank kind of like the Sock Club onlys. The you could click on that and walla a rare gems heads out to your door. And you would be fine with that??
Because I really could not give hints. I could maybe do 4 choices like jewel ,earth, brights and funkymonkey.

hmmmm….. I see I am not the only enabler in this group.

On March 21st, 2008 at 9:10 pm Twinkerbell said:

That would be perfect! And YES :D speaking for myself and I’m guessing others that would be MORE than fine. What can I say? We are a group that has a penchant for fine things.

I LOVE rare gems!! Our own private, one of a kind socks for our tooties to wear. It would be like a grab bag - only sock yarn! Great idea!

That sounds WONDERFUL!

On March 22nd, 2008 at 5:39 am Knitter Kitter said:

Absolutely!!! I’d be more than fine with that!!! Just be aware that if you give choices like jewel, earth, brights and funkymonkey that I’ll have to buy at least one skein from each of those for starters. Then, well… I can’t be held responsible for my buying actions ;) Yes, yes, you are an enabler. I, however, am certainly not complaining about that :)) Just don’t tell my husband LOL

I don’t think you even need to break them out that much Tina. If someone doesn’t like what they get they can always trade it on Ravelry or sell it on eBay right? Just have Susie wave her magic fingers over the site and add that Rare Gems circle (or do your overworked dyer’s fingers have to slave over a hot computer making changes like that?) Anyway add the circle but save a few of those mystery skeins for sock campers pretty please. Alice

I agree with Alice-let it be a ’surprise’ colorway. There is always someone who would like it and that they could re-sell to!

BTW, that photo sure is something!
