Gallery, January '08 Kit Questions | March 17, 2008
I finished my Dragon Dance socks and I love love love them. It was the first time I ever worked with STR Lightweight. I didn’t use the pattern because I was so happy with the way the yarn was striping and I didn’t want to break it up. I definitely will try the pattern another time though. There are more pictures and information on my blog! It’s a shameless plug, but there really are more pictures there!
January '08 Kit Questions | March 16, 2008
I figured the real advantage of waiting til March 16th to start my January socks was that pattern updates would be available - but I’ve searched here and on ravelry and haven’t found any. Did come across some very helpful tips for short row heels (these will be my first, so that’s much appreciated!) and clarification around placement of the heel/foot stitches and starting the star toe on round 4 (for a size M). But that’s it - are there really no updates? Thanks!

Seems that if you live in the Seattle area really neat things happen. Check out this website and see if you can resist planning a vacation (or long weekend excursion) around it. http://www.lystour.com/  Happy Knitting, AliceÂ
Contests | March 13, 2008
Let’s say knit a sock for an elephant or better yet a trunk cozy.
( It also could be a scarf for the Eiffel Tower, a car cozy, a neck tube for a giraffe… anything goes)
I want creative outrageousness and a bit of yardage info. So, you will need to do some guesstimation math.
For example, if you were going to knit a sock for an elephant you would need to know the average size of an elephant’s foot and how long up it’s leg you would want said sock to go. Then estimate the yardage based on those numbers. Oh, and of course stitch pattern. I am thinking you would not want to knit lace for an elephant. You might need a double sole also. A picot edge for the female elephant would be a lovely touch. We do not need a full out written pattern here just a concept with some numbers to support and embellish it. And of course the number of skeins of STR.
The world is your knit canvas! There are so many parts of our planet we could cover in knitted goodness (not just elephants). Consider this avant garde, textile art design.
We will award 10 yarn prizes ( a skein of STR in the weight/color of your choice) for the favorite absolutely most creative and ridiculous design concepts.
Please put your entries here in this post, as comments so we can all see.
Deadline for submissions is the 28th of March.
We will pick the top 20 and then put them out there for everyone to vote on. We have subscribed to a survey service which will make contest voting easier.
Well , I do believe that covers it and should keep us all occupied for a bit. I am off to see how long an elephant’s trunk is…

I have such a hard time searching for stuff I thought I saw earlier on the blog. I think I read somewhere that they will be putting up new colors on the site, and I was wondering if anybody knew when that might happen, and what colors will be put to rest(I think I read that somewhere too)? Thanks for any help that you all might have :).
