Pilgrams?

Since April showers bring May flowers, what would the Mayflower bring? What color are Pilgrams?

Ooooooh. I don’t care what color it is (BRIGHT!!! AND LTOS OF THEM)…. but I’m hoping for an easy pattern. My brain isn’t what it used to be. I blame it on Sock Camp.

For some reason something pink or purple comes to mind with the summer warmth on it’s way. But then again it could be blue for the summer water or yellow for the sun. Hmmm, nope no idea!

I’m thinking yellow. Spring is here, summer is coming. Sunshine and buttercups. Of course, I hardly ever wear yellow, but I’m willing to try. Bright yellow socks to wear with my golf spikes. Yowza!

Hint? Hint? Please? I’ll be out of town next week and won’t be able to start until I get back on Memorial day. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next. The first two patterns/colorways have been really beautiful.

Something warm. A feel good sock colour that convinces me summer really is coming. Seattle is still too dark and grey. Maybe a nice orangey-yellow? Or a green as green as summer grass?

purple or blue. You know, purple is a warm color, blue skies of summer.

I’m anticipating “Maypole”, a celebration of spring. Gently bright colors of yellow, marigold, honey, strawberry, rose, and lilac. Perhaps with a bit of an oamteal or “birch” shade (a drop of grey–just enough to tint the base yarn).

It’s a bit like expecting a baby–eagerly anticipated and welcomed with joy–regardless. It grows up into a pair of socks.

Boy - this is the first time I have heard a woman say “it is that time of month already” and everyone thought it was a good thing! Maybe that means the yarn will be blood red - but since January was red, it probably won’t be.

Hmmm - I saw some STR silky at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival - and I am hoping it is some of that. If not this shipment, maybe one of the others this year. I said this on ravelry and people said it felted fast - but I still liked the feel of it so much that I want to try some…any of Tina’s colors is fine.

I love the pilgrims! I guess they would be dreary greys and blackish browns, so: no fun! Therefore I hope for yellow like the sun in may!

Something very bright and cool for our hot southern summers would be great. As Lisa said, always excited and eager to receive no matter the color - Tina & the gang can’t go wrong!
Just hope the Pilgrims aren’t delivering……..

Monkey mayhem… maybe that’s banana yellow!

Or maybe mayhem is just all kinds of crazy colors.

hmmmm…I’m dizzy w/ anticipation.

Lovely silkie yarn;
Maybe lightweight, maybe not.
Doesn’t matter, love.

Tina makes beauty.
Yarn brings happiness and joy,
Whatever color.

In other, non-haiku words - teasing and anticipation are fun, but it just doesn’t matter to me! :-)

Oh, I hope it’s a lovely multi-colored yarn. Something bright and cheerful. You are SO talented with color, Tina, and I hope that you surpise us with something fabulous!

On May 16th, 2008 at 12:52 am Larissa said:

Bright and cheerful, I am sure it will be gorgeous, they all are… I hope it isn’t Silkie though…I am one of those who had a felting disaster from last year’s gorgeous Silkie yarn.

On May 16th, 2008 at 5:39 am Tina said:

It is not silkie, that much I can say.

Meg , thanks for the poem!

and I am still not getting the whole pilgrims thing, did I miss something??

And here I thought Afternoon Moon had an in on what the colorway’s going to be.

I think she’s joking around and connected pilgrams to the Mayflower since April showers bring May flowers.

Then again Tina, you could be messing with us and she could be right. :D

Also, someone on Rav (sorry, forget who) said mayflowers (the real ones as opposed to that historical ship) are blue. But we just had blue. Okay, so last year’s sock clubbers had blue (Bella Coola), not this year’s, but still.

On May 16th, 2008 at 6:39 am Tina said:

ahhh, thanks Nartian thought I had completely missed the boat and I had. hehehe

Are the international ones being shipped first? It was so great last year when we got them close to the same time as some of the American knitters.

Yes the international will be going first.

Mayflowers…..light blues, violets, and yellow? Right now I am knitting socks for Obama in red, white and blue; so, I could use a colour change.

Yeah!!! I am finally working on the Salish Sea Socks from last year. Had to stop since I accidently spilled soup on the pattern. Now I just have to wait for the pages to dry.

This will be my first “ontime” delivery (late club joiner), and therefore my first surprise colorway…..I am hoping purply/blues with some yellow. Actually, I am sure I’ll be happy with anything:)

Hmmm-something “beachy” perhaps. Just got back from the Oregon coast and loved the icy whites and greys with a tinge of green, red and yellow when the sun set on the water.

I’m going with something purple, blue and yellow :) I don’t know why, but that’s what I think it might be…

On May 27th, 2008 at 5:28 am Seapixie said:

I love the Maypole idea. Please let it have purple. I need a purple fix.

If it has anything to do with buttercups, it might just get hit with a garden hoe. The buttercups and I are having a territorial war in my garden and the line has been drawn!

A wildflower mix would be kewl though.
