hi there Notorious Sock Knitters!
my name is Marjan, I live in the Netherlands. So now my Cleopatra found her way to you from my studio to your homes. She is in fact the result of my son playing with a lovely green organza ribbon. He wrapped it around a sock on a mannequin’s foot and it just looked beautiful. I tried how the slashing pattern traveled across the foot sole…. found out how it looked nicer when I doubled it on the upper foot, eliminating the foot sole pattern, cutting out excessive lace, letting the yarn do what it always does best: playing the starring role.

This is a fantastic pattern.
I can’t wait to get my package so I can look at it up close and study the pattern. From what I’ve seen in spoilers, I’m intrigued.
I was so happy when I stumbled upon the spoiler & found out you’re the designer. Congratulations!
Hi Marjan, by way of carrier pidgeon to Nederlands. I am going to have to email you and try to twist your arm a little to see what is coming to me. Ahh… I couldn’t do that to you, we have been friends and obviously good friends to my friends at BMFA. Have not received the precious cargo yet, but I am sure it is winging this way. Thanks to Marjan and to the staff at BMFA. This one has me baffled!
Good weedend to you all coming up, Deb in Minnesota
Your designs are wonderful, thank you for this pattern.
thank you so much for all your lovely comments + here to help, also on the RSC group in Ravelry. Happy Knitting!
(oh - and my baby has not arrived yet - seems like we live deep down in the jungle, aka The Netherlands)
Marjan- I love the design. I think it’s going to be challenging but the instructions seem soooo clear. And I love the name. I even attempted the cast on and I appear to have done it right. Woooo hoooo!!!!!
hi marjan,
this is such a wonderful, fantastic pattern !! i just love it. i am a diagonal person.
cleopatra’s my girl, ya know, the queen of d’nile. i’m setting down 2 sock in progress so i can start this right away. the colors of the yarn and the lines of the pattern are such a wonderful complement to each other. you’ve done a great job. thank you.
This pattern looks like so much fun. Thank you:) and thank your son!
From the sound of things I’m glad you simplified things for us. I am going to try and do the slightly longer version pictured as I always seem to have lots of yarn left over. Looking forward to getting started tomorrow. Happy Knitting, Alice
