Missing Kit

Notorious Sock Knitters | May 29, 2008
By Gisele M Hawkins

I may be one of the few members down in Lake Charles, LA, but I haven’t recieved my package yet.  Has it gone out to the lower states in the South?

Could I have been overlooked?

Granted I am still stuck on the heel of the other kit and put it aside to take on other tasks, but I still love my yarn and my socks.

Waiting patiently in Lousiana.

I think that the US shipments went out on Tuesday. I am in Oregon and I also have not yet received the kit. I will start to stalk my postal carrier tomorrow if they haven’t arrived. :-)

I’m am sitting at the front door waiting to hear the post truck come so I can run out and grab my package…..not too patient - but VERY excited indeed!!!!!!!!!!

Every package except Washington and Oregon went out on Tuesday. Washington and Oregon went on Wednesday.

Okay…that explains it Tina! I’m in western WA and I was disappointed to find it not there today–I even went back out to the post office box to check for a key for the package compartment even after my daughter said, the key’s not there!I’m sure it will be here tomorrow!

It is interesting how long it takes to get to different parts of the country. Our local postmaster here says it depends on the local P.O’s. I honestly do not know. I just know when they leave here. Maybe we need some sort of homing devices. Or postal bribery. We take them treats and are very nice to the post office workers here. hmmm

Ooopppsss.. spoke to soon. Mailman just came back and dropped off my package. It’s beautiful!

Yeah, our post office is really awful. They actually decided NOT to deliver any mail on the last two Saturdays when I was expecting my kit. Boo hoo!

I’m on the outskirts of a decent-sized town, but we get rural delivery. It’s really hit-or-miss, and I’m hoping that my kit shows up today. If not, hopefully I’ll actually get mail on Saturday this week.

Got it here yesterday in Annapolis….I’m in love, already planning to buy more skeins of this.

I’m wondering if the rural delivery person is a temp worker on the weekends and doesn’t have the route down real well yet so packages get missed and sometimes so do mailboxes. Otherwise it may be time leave a note to find out what the story is on Saturday delivery. If you don’t get a note back and continue to have Saturday delivery problems call you local Postmaster. They need to know if service is not what it should be. You should also let them know if your mailperson goes out of their way to get your packages to you. Mine actual comes up the driveway and honks so I know I have a package to pick up. Hope you kit has gotten there by now. Happy Knitting, Alice

Still waiting here in Ohio, too. I’m mostly agitated because it seems to be so difficult to get anything actually shipped here (although I got the first two kits ok, happily). You’d think we were in the middle of nowhere, not on the outskirts of the state capital. And yet, the local mail persons and other delivery shippers return half of our post and shipments. It’s not like they can’t find it - we have a community mailbox! All the apartments’ boxes are together!
