great job girls! so lochness must be greeny? its the green that through me as i was looking at carbon initially. tina, i NEED one of each str color to study…order coming shorty!!!
great fun!
Yeah, this means you will be dying up a bunch of Loch Ness soon, huh?!-lol!
And the secondary contest?
I guessed Carbon & Lochness, too! I sent my guess in on Monday, and it didn’t get bounced back to me. I’ve just forwarded it to Tina….let me know if you didn’t receive it!
Got it Amy — sorry!!
LochNess is one of my favorites (meaning I have in lightweight, mediumweight, and heavyweight!)! Tina, that’s the one you guessed correctly, right?
YAY!!!! Thanks, Tina!
No sorry that is the one I missed!!
So ashamed going to bury head in sand.
No way!! I can’t believe you missed that? Umm…speechless. I thought that was one of your favorite colors.
Its okay. Unbury head. But maybe, just maybe, you may need to go dye some more of it! Show Lochness some love
I’d love to see Lochness make a comeback, too! Maybe in the Fall?
Loch Ness is one of my most favorite colorways. When it was on the website a few months back I was so awestruck I think I nearly had a seizure. Or at least a moment of “OMG I need it NOW!!!” paralysis. I’m glad it was a made part of the socks…hehehe, and glad that I’m obsessed with it enough to have been able to spot it.
Um, I also guessed Carbon and Lochness. Did my email not get through?
Oh, so you got Carbon right, then? Well, that means my secondary guess was wrong. Fooey. But it was still a load of fun playing.
Kathornus yes it did. Sorry these were all supposed to be put in my file and were not.
Please email me so I can get you your prize .
thanks
How often did they change the colors? Did they go one repeat then change, or change every 4 or so?
For the most part, we alternated Carbon and Lochness EVERY row!
That really threw you, didn’t it?
We alternated colors every other row on the heel flaps.
And at least one of us forgot the every round bit,so there is at least one place where there’s two or three rounds in the same color.
Yay the winner list grows! I’m really glad that there were more than two of us.
I am really glad there are more than two winners. I thought I had blown it on this contest.
I didn’t even come close! Congratulations to all the winners. I hope the contest is a bit easier next time.
Maybe Leslie,Tan, Gail and I should make this an annual contest, especially to see if we can stump Tina with the colors!
(Running for cover before the other three read this!) :-O
That would be funny LB . We could call it”stump the dyer”.
I haven’t heard from the other three. They may not be speaking to me anymore after that suggestion.
My God, but that could be fun, L-B!-lol! But remember-we need to start in January in order to finish for Tina’s Birtdhday!-lol! And even I hadn’t realized we had missed alternating colors! But it all didn’t matter, because our mantra was that the socks were not supposed to be the same and that the more unintentional deviations each knitter took only proved we are all different!
I bet we could get a pair done in less than six months if we tried really really hard. But now that people know our scheme of alternating every row, we might have to throw in more colorways, get more random . . . can’t let it get too easy.
My reason for choosing Loch Ness was that when I saw Tina at OFFF, she said that Loch Ness was her favorite colorway, and she could decorate her whole house in it. Tina, is that still so? Do you have a new favorite?
Personally, I’d like to knit a pair in a single colorway, but say that it’s two colorways, and see what Tina would come up with! But, ssshhh! Don’t tell Tina that!
Tan, I still LOVE the lochness quite a bit. I am creating new colorways right now and it is a very intimate thing for me. So it is kind of like that song lyric,”love the one your with”. Lochness is certainly in my top 10. Carbon is not far behind.
you guys are too funny
So did you ever answer the question about what single colorway Carbon/Loch Ness is closest to? Or is that one of your new colorways you’re dreaming up?
Nartian
Well the closest to that combo ( and if you hold the sock next to it, really close) Harlotty is the closest. Isn’t that funny.
And brings us to bmfa color equations;
lochness + carbon = harlotty
now this would be a fun game eh?
Man, I totally didn’t think of Harlotty ’til Leslie mentioned it after I posted my question. How fascinating that the dye colors for Carbon + dye colors for Loch Ness = Harlotty. I’ll need to pull Harlotty out and look ’cause that’s the one colorway I didn’t think of when I was trying to guess.
The yearly LB/Leslie/Tan game sound fantastic, though I’d have to tell Leslie not to tell me ANYTHING if I want to play. The perils of working w/one’s STR knitting buddy!
Well, now i feel better. i got the harlotty part right!!! i had carbon in mind but it was again the green…i need some harlotty. i also thought that harlotty fit the mythical clue while carbon covered elemental! Tina, i take it back. you do not need to adjust all the colors photos!!! lol.
Considering Harlotty was the color I was thinking for the entire sock/contest I’m not surprised. Trying to find the second color is what had me stumped.
alice, i totally agree!!!!!!! hope all is well with you during this trying time! m
Sorry to join this party a bit late (I didn’t have internet access where I was traveling). I really felt like I totally missed the boat on my guess until I got down to the Harlotty formula. Now I don’t feel so bad. Good job winners!
