I would like to add 2″ of ribbing to the top of my socks and am knitting the size small.  Would I have enough yarn?

What’s Your September Label Say?

Notorious Sock Knitters, September '08 Kit Questions, Warning Spoilage | September 26, 2008
By Cathy-Cate

I don’t think this will be a spoiler, truly, any more than Tina’s Under The Sea hints!  (You just have to SEE the gorgeous yarn in person; it’s hard to imagine, no matter how many hints you get.)  My label says, “Perigean Tide”!  I had to think a second; my first thought was, where’s Perigea?  But then I remembered the word perigee and realized it was probably related, duh.  Google says Yes!   Vocabulary building with my new lovely sock yarn & pattern, love it. So what’s your label say this month?

I’m amongst friends….thanks for your newest letter, I’m only halfway thru it, and laughing while alone…I didn’t know there were others in the world that experience life like me.  Thanks for making me feel so welcome, now I have to finish the rest of the story…

Sock Summit (’09 West)

Notorious Sock Knitters | September 24, 2008
By Alice in the Heartland

It’s been on Yarn Harlot, all over the boards that count on Ravelry, and on the official BMFA blog so it’s time to add it here.

Calling all Notorious Sock Knitters:

Next August 6-9 in Portland Oregon there’s going to be a Sock Summit. Kind of like sock camp for the masses. I’m thinking Stitches or Maryland Sheep and Wool or Rhinebeck just for sock knitters. They’re taking teachers teaching, vendors selling, and sock knitters from all over gathering in one spot for just a bit of sock knitting.

I don’t do links very well so if this crashes head over to Yarn Harlot’s blog for September 23 or read Tina’s BMFA blog.

Looks like a great time brewing the back rooms of Scappoose. Happy Knitting all, Alice

Cleo toe stitch-count off @ r. 4 of lace/cable. Help!

Notorious Sock Knitters | September 24, 2008
By thorn

I’m still pretty much at the beginning of my Cleos; have both toes done, and am beginning the cable-lace pattern on one of them. knitting the medium size.

I know it was early when I was working on it on the train this morning — but I am to “medium only” “row 4″, and the counts are off. As I count, the row 4 instruction works out to 36 stitches instead of 34, because it adds a purl stitch on each end right after/before k1tbl; but it still wants me to k22 (I think) in the center section. *is* there an error in the “medium only” section? I’m talking about the section right after “instructions,” then “all sizes” but right before starting the chart and side-stitch pattern. I’m sorry I don’t have the page# in front of me.

If not, can anyone who has knit size ‘medium’ hazard a guess as to where I might have gone wrong? I super-promise that I have not blown by, or dropped, any yo’s. That’s always the first thing I check. I’ve stared at it and stared at it, counted and counted.

I don’t want to kludge here, because I can just *smell* that I will end up messing with the arithmetic for the rest of the project if I do.

Thank you all ~

Error in gusset of Cleo?

Notorious Sock Knitters | September 22, 2008
By shauschka@earthlink.net

I have been working the Cleopatra socks, and in my pattern, the stitch count is off in the first few rows of the gussets. In rounds 4 and 6, I had to play with the k1tbl, or the k2togtbl components so that the stitch count increased as it should.

Did everyone else do this and not talk about it, or did I get an uncorrected pattern?

Anyway, I love the pattern, and have also modified the left and right twists ala Barbara Walker, which made things a lot easier for me. I also started with a figure 8 cast on instead of the provisional one. I guess I just can’t stop fiddling with things (G).

Shipping and now….It’s here, it’s here, it’s here!!!!

Announcements, Warning Spoilage | September 19, 2008

dearest international sock club members,

I am very sorry but because of knit circumstance beyond our control ( this is the story I am sticking with) everything went to press a bit later than planned. This means that the few day head start your packages usually get will not be possible this time.

We are starting shipping on Monday the 22nd with your packages. The domestic ones start to their journey on Tuesday.

So if we could be extra careful about spoilage and also not looking where we know it will be visible, that would be lovely.

thanks!

Well, that was fun to type.

Anyone up for a meet up at Oregon Flock and Fiber Saturday afternoon, the 27th?

We could sit and knit and well, talk socks and color and … . Wouldn’t that be fun!
