Notorious Sock Knitters, September '08 Kit Questions, Warning Spoilage | September 26, 2008
I don’t think this will be a spoiler, truly, any more than Tina’s Under The Sea hints!  (You just have to SEE the gorgeous yarn in person; it’s hard to imagine, no matter how many hints you get.)  My label says, “Perigean Tide”!  I had to think a second; my first thought was, where’s Perigea?  But then I remembered the word perigee and realized it was probably related, duh.  Google says Yes!  Vocabulary building with my new lovely sock yarn & pattern, love it. So what’s your label say this month?Â

So my label says,
“mean sea level”
Is that like “the mean” sea level, or like the “mean” sea level or does it mean “sea level”? or is it like….well….Um…like….mean…….sea….levels….
Calm
winding and casting on……
I am also “mean sea level”
My ball band says ‘intertidal zone’. The colors are amazing. I must admit I probably wouldn’t have picked this out for myself but the more I look at it, the more I’m in love with it.
My label band also said INTERTIDAL ZONE
According to About.com
This zone is located at the junction of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere, the intertidal zone is where air, earth, and land interact. It is a zone between high tide and low tide where an abundance of marine life thrives. Unfortunately, it’s a place where changes to the climate or human impact make their greatest impact.
Does this mean I’m teetering on the edge at all times? LOL
Mine says Tide Pooling….With each different name, does it mean that they are all different colors? or was she having fun naming them?
Mine says Bathymetry.
Something about measuring the depth of ocean floors.
Mine reads, “Slack Water”.
I have “intertidal zone” zone as well, which is kismet since I collaborate on intertidal zone research in Massachusetts and Maine and I used to love to explore the tide pools in Oregon. This is my favorite colorway so far this year. It is sooo beautiful.
I’ve got “kelvin waves”. A little search reveals that these came be warm bumps in the Pacific Ocean. That was the easiest concept for me to grasp. I love this color way, and am leaving to cast on NOW
Mine says “LaPlace Tidal Equations” A wikipedia search brought me to a page with lots of scary math/symbols having to do with tides, but I did find out that there was a Pierre LaPlace.
Another Tide Pooling- Intertidal Zone. I LOVE it!
Mine also says Kelvin Waves… I really love this color! It’s absolutely gorgeous!
Ok, so I was not with it this morning when I posted! I didn’t know that I had to look on the inside of the label! Mine says Laplace Tidal Equations–something about trying to approximate global atmospheric flow.
My label reads Mean Sea Level. Love, love the color. Can’t wait to get started.
Perigean tide!
Tide Pooling on the outside, Intertidal Zone on the inside!
My label says ‘mean sea level’. I wasn’t expecting this colorway, but it’s what I’ve been wanting to knit for this month!
Another Laplace Tidal Equations.
Are these different dye lots?
And I am bathymetry–the ups and downs of the sea floor–Beacause 70% of the earth’s crust is under the seas, most of the crust of the earth has never been seen! Amazing–I can almost smell the ocean looking at the dye notes and the colorway and the sock pattern.
Mine is Slack Water. I am totally excited to get started!
Mine says “kelvin waves”. I am lovin this one!!
Another “lapiace tidal equations”. The TIDE series could have been designed specifically for me. Out of 11 shipments–this one makes the top 2!
Another knitter saw my little yarn cakes and announced “That’s Blue Moon”. She asked if I would knit this month’s socks for her.
Sandstone
Doh, it says that on my 2009 label…. silly Amy!
