IMPORTANT UPDATE 12/16/08
One day when I try to streamline a process in order to make all of our lives easier please just hit me over the head it will actually succeed in doing this.
As of today there are still declines for some of you. We are still trying to figure out why this is happening. Please bear with us and know that you will get in so no worries on that front.
The system is bogged down. Please do not hit submit over and over.
This system is pre-authorizing your cards. We were told this meant just validating them in fact it means it is holding those funds. Since I told you that we were not charging the cards this is leading to some confusion and problems in relation to available funds for the holidays.
I cannot apologize enough for this, it is not what we thought was happening. If this is a problem for you and you have not registered please wait and do so after the holidays. If you have already registered and this is a problem please contact me; tina@bluemoonfiberarts.com and we will take the preauth on your card off. It does take a few days to release those funds back to you please keep this in mind.
What we do know is that there are browser issues. We think we have addressed this issue. You will need to clear your cache before trying again because it does have the old script stored there. and that is what it keeps pulling up.
I think that covers it and again I am very sorry for any inconvenience this is causing you. It certainly was not our intention.

Yes, today is the day to sign up for the Notorious Sock Knitters World Domination Tour. Later in the day towards afternoon. We are tweaking the system so it works exactly how I want it to.
Hang in there! I will post here and the BMFA blog when it is up and running.
WE ARE LIVE NOW!!!!

Will we be able to register for the 2009 Rockin’ Sock Club for this site
At the blue moon website not here in the rockin sock club blog.
Tina, you’ll take paypal, right?
Good luck getting things tweaked! Having retired from being a programmer, I know how “tweaking” goes….sometimes great, sometimes not so great! Got my frozen fingers crossed for you!
I’ve been checking in periodically today and just now noticed that those are FlyLady feather dusters on the home screen picture. Looking forward to getting signed up!
Can’t wait to get signed up. I’m starting to freak. Hope it’s not much longer. Good Luck!
It will be another hour.
paypment is through CC and not Paypal. T add Paypal into this interface was too cost prohibitive. Sorry!
Probably everyone is asking the same thing…are we going to be able to sign up today?
Yes, in an hour give or take a minute or two. How’s that for committing to a firm deadline?
We are all waiting anxiously to register!
I know you are doing your best.
Thanks,
Teresa Quick
I’m IN!… YAY…..
Was I the first?!?!?!
I’ve got all my info logged in but it keeps saying my transaction was denied. I know my credit card has room on it so what’s going on?
Mine denied too… I’m not sure what happened with it, but I used a different card and it worked just fine. My other card had plenty of room on it so maybe it just didn’t like it. Regardless, I am in and ready for a new year of Sock Club Craziness!!!
Please help, I’ve tried both credit cards and it keeps saying denied.
Me too . I have enough credit and I only have one card which keeps getting declined. Need socks ….
I just tried and I was denied as well — I tried 3 different cards! Did we break it already??
Me too!!!!
Me too! I tried 4 diffferent caeds. Please help!
Ahhh, I see I’m not the only one getting “transaction declined”!
I tried two credit cards, both declined. When do you expect the problem to be solved? I just want to know whether I should wait a little while more or give up until tomorrow?
Got in w/ no problems at 6:00PM
You’re luckier than I am. 6:09 p.m. and still getting declined.
The All International including Canadian cards are being declined. There is a currency exchange rate snafu. We are working on this.
We believe that any US declines are maybe just an over loaded Merchant service system.
Sorry, you do not know how sorry I am this is happening. David is working on fixing it and hopefully it is a three hour fix. It could be until tomorrow though.
Tea, I am making tea.
And of course, I’m from Canada, and ordering with Canadian Visa and MasterCard. No wonder it’s not going through. Ah, the agony of it all…
tell me about it!
Maybe we should tell each other stories. How is the holiday knitting coming along.
I am presuming mine went through. I put in all my info - and then I got a blank screen and at the bottom it said ‘done’!
Will I get a confirmation e-mail?
Tea is an excellent idea.
Mine’s been declined too, Is anyone else in the U.K having difficulty
I’m in! Thanks Tina - Stay warm:-)
I was able to easily buy my own membership but repeated attempts to buy my daughter a gift membership have been denied.
Beware. Just got a call from my credit card company saying that although the website showed repeated denials that two of my requests did go through! Every time I was denied the company put a hold of $230 on my card which will take 3 to 5 days to sort out! So I am not really sure what I have - was hoping for one subscription for me and one for my daughter. We will find out!
Don’t know if I should wait for the middle of the night or check with my card company to see if it actually went through as it did for Hilary C. I may be calling them soon. I may also just wait for tomorrow and deal with it when it’s warmer. Happy Holiday knitting everyone. I’m in for Chai. Hugs, Alice
I’m in. Thanks!
hmmm, i can’t even get into the sign up page yet….439 pm pacific time
Hey,Tina:
I tried 2-3 cards and finally one took. Cannot say why that happened. Unfortunately, it is one I hate to use, but at least I got a confirmation that I am IN.
It MUST be better than two years ago when the bank refunded all money.
Be well - drink tea - breathe, breathe, breathe

Houston
Citi Bank sees them as holds and is willing to undo them, but LL Bean (Barclays bank) sees them as approved transactions and refuses to undo them and the BMFA needs to clear them.
yes, the page finally came up to register and first card first time tried went with no problems…lol, or so it says! smile
Well, mine got declined. I won’t try again tonight.
Maybe it’s a sign I shouldn’t sign up.
I’ve been denied umpteen times–I’ll hope there aren’t that many holds on my beleaguered card, and will try tomorrow. Returning members will get a space, right? Even if I don’t knit very many socks, I need you guys.
Woo hoo! I’M IN!
I used Japanese Credit card.
Thanks!
I got the blank screen too.
Did my order go through or not?
I NEED, NEED, NEED my sock club~!
PLEEEEEEZZZZEEEEEEE
I have voided all duplicates out. If you have any bank issues please let me know. tina@bluemoonfiberarts.com
I cannot make the blank screen thing happen so I need to know the more if this happens to you contact me with the details of you transaction. thanks
this system is different from our website and seems to be having trouble with the traffic load.
Will there be any confirmation beyond the webpage saying the credit card will be charged in January?
I filled out the registration form with all proper info and hit submit. The registration form returned to my screen as a fresh registration form (all my info gone). Crossing my fingers that I’m in….?!!! Didn’t attempt it a second time- thought it best to wait & see.
All seems difficult now, but we will be estactic in January!!!
Tina ,
I submitted payment and the screen came back up with all the fields blank . I have no confirmation email so I don’t know if I am in ornot . It has done this twice now.
Same thing just happened to me as Liz at 6:43 and Diane Schnebli at 6:46. No confirmation email either. I’m going to cross my fingers with the rest and hope it’s just a system hiccup. Waiting hopefully in a rainy and windy San Diego, where wool sounds lovely right now. Tea too.
I had the same result that Liz and Diane did…filled out the form twice and no response but yet another blank form.
Hey Tina, Is it safe for us in Canada to try again?
Yes it is safe to try in Canada again.
Also we think we have the blank screen issue solved. A browser sensitivity problem.
Hmmmmm…we may need to screw the tea and move to chocolate!! hehehe Oh Tina, hugs! hugs! hugs! and brownies?! of the chocolate kind?!
A million thanks Tina. Mine just went through on my first re-try. Back to the knitting of sockswhich are coming in very handy, here in Alberta it was -30 Celsius today!
I think that, on days like this, it’s amazing that you persevere instead of throwing your hands into the air — or bang your head against the keyboard — and wonder why you bother.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: thank you for sharing your brilliance with us!
Tea. Chocolate. Breeeeathe… Exhale….
sigh. a last try with two different credit cards, same “declined”. I know Tina and crew are working on it. I just want instant gratification. Time to go home (where my DSL line is down, or I’d be at this all night) and call my daughter to wish her happy 33rd birthday. There’s always tomorrow.
oh–for me that’s going to be whiskey tonight. Celebrate daughter and drown sorrows. Maybe I’ll put some tea in it come bedtime.
So, if I got the “blank screen” am I in?
Or, do I need to do it again…..
Inquiring minds want to know.
thanks
Tami
too late irish I have moved from tea to wine! skipping the chocolate all together.
oh wait, I did have soem chocolate mints from Joe the trader.
Imho, you’ve got your priorities right!
I’M IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
snoopy dancin here!
Teresa
Thanks, Tina, for getting the disappearing registration form problem fixed. My registration went through on the second attempt. Now off to find chocolate with which to celebrate.
Got in!!!!!!! Happy dance!!!!!!!
yeah!!! thank you’s go to David programmer dude supreme!
My daughter got me in this afternoon–the kids are giving me the club for my birthday. Actually I think they did last year, too . . .
So sweet!
Thanks, Tina–I’m in too! Hope you are staying warm–it’s cold here in Oregon! Wrap up in wool!
I’m in!!! I was out and knew I couldn’t register right away–for once, that worked to my advantage! So looking forward to the coming year and the great designers…and of course the fabulous yarn! What doesn’t knit into socks will be knit into wee little things for what will be my new (first) granddaughter who arrives early in the new year!
Wine and chocolate…perfect combo! And yay I’m in!!! Going to be an awesome year too….all the way until Dec. 31, 2009 where we will have a real blue moon!!
And Tina, I know today has probably not seemed like the smoothest of days, but remember last year…taking days, weeks to charge credit cards…people emailing asking if they were in, not in…. it was nice to get that confirmation tonight saying I’m in!! Don’t laugh, but I do think this year’s system was a bit easier
thanks tina ,the blank screen thingee stoppped. but i am still feeling rejected in australia. i will try again tommorrow. hope you have a better day.
I am still being rejected in the U.K too, I will leave it for a day or so to sort things out. Anyone else from the UK still having difficulty too.
I tried 6:00 am EST and am still being rejected. Disappointing.
Wahoooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m in, I’m in, I’m in! Dippity Do Da! Dippity Eh! Oh what a wonderful day!
This will be my second year and I am just as excited about it as I was last year. What a wonderful gift, so much fun..
Now…need to find time and $$ for SOCK CAMP!!!
Who knew browsers were “sensitive?” Geesh…
No blank screen this morning, but “transaction declined”.
Boo hoo….!!!!
two browsers, three cards, declined… at 7 am eastern, will try again later.
Tried again this morning from Canada (8:00 a.m. Eastern), still getting declined. Any idea if/when it will be fixed? I just want to wait until it’s safe to try again…
Tried just now in the UK with 2 different credit cards twice and my cards have been rejected 4 times. I assume that I’m not yet in??
I’m In! I got in right away around 5:30 last night. Good Luck, Tina! Good Luck, Dave! Thank you for being there!
In the end I ended up with two $230 holds on one credit card and one $230 on my debit card. I have one confirmed response from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. So I will contact my banking institutions to see if I can get this money unfrozen. I would still like to buy a membership for my daughter but at this point I have no faith in the online system. Can I fill out the form, print it out and mail it to you?
There are several things going on here. One is because of so many trying to submit at the same time the system slowed. Because it was slow people hit submit more than once which sent it in more than once. We have now made the submit button so it can only be hit once. I have gone through and voided all duplicates.
Please clear your caches before trying again. The old scripts are in there and keep pooping up instead of the ones that we tweaked.
Some browsers are having trouble with this system.
I have another fix I hope to implement this morning so if you can wait until after 10:00 to try again that would be awesome.
I am sorry for the hassle, believe me I am sorry.
“Pooping up” is right.
It is okay Tina, it wouldn’t be a new year of the sock club without a sign up glitch.
Hang in their Blue Moon Team!
Thank you for keeping us informed and not abandoning us! I will try again after 10:00 a.m. and will keep my fingers crossed.
Still declined, but thankfully my bank isn’t showing any held funds. I’m anxious to be signed up, but I’m trying not to worry too much. Tina always takes such good care of us, after all!
I have just tried from the UK for the first time using Mastercard and the transaction was declined.
I cleared my cache, even used a different credit card and still got the “Transaction declined” message as 3:05 p.m. Eastern Time. I am in Canada. I will try again tomorrow and hope the problem is resolved by then. Thanks for the updates!
Iam in no problems
Sarah
Finally in in Australia. I enjoyed last year so much I really wanted to do it again. Thank you Tina for fixing the glitches.
It just worked fine for me 4:30pm PST. I have loved the 2008 club, and am really excited about 2009. I missed all the frustration because we were iced in without computer access on San Juan Island. We finally got out this morning.
Sarah
It’s funny reading all the comments today, because yesterday I was declined and thought “oh crap I must have put more on the card than I’d planned, I hope the club won’t fill up before I get paid Friday.” Now, I feel so much better, it’s not me and it wasn’t your plan to hold funds
However, I’d rather have them held and not have to worry again later. Thank you and Happy Holidays!
Thanks so much Tina, for all your efforts and keeping us updated. The reassurance that we will get in means I can be patient a couple days and let the dust settle. But I will be back!! -need my sock club!!
Given all this, I thought it funny your comment said the old scripts keep “pooping up”! How appropriate!
Reminder to Tina: exhale.
exhaaaaale.
If we weren’t so thrilled about the NSK World Domination Tour, no one would be worried about signing up.
All things, with time and patience.
exhale!
whoooooooooo
Thanks for fixing all the glitches — I just tried, and this time, my registration went through without a problem. I even got an e-mail confirmation! I can now stop yelling at the computer…
Oh happy day–I’m in. So excited too. 2009 will be my second year and I have loved RSC 2008. Best of all, DH gave me RSC 2009 for my Christmas present. He registered me yesterday around noon without any problems. Oh . . . Tina, thank you for hanging in there and I am so sorry that your “best laid plans” glitched. Please know that we were thrilled and excited to register for the NSK World Domination Tour, but we did/do empathize with you having NSKs clamoring to register and having server problems beyond your control. Be well–and know you are very appreciated. Happiness to you.
I DID NOT WANT TO REGISTER!! All thinigs being, you know, relative I do not “need” more sock yarn.
I was just “curious”. I just wanted to have a quick look. Then I saw JC Briar’s name next to Cookie A’s and SPM…. I read “World Domination” and my heart started to race.
The next thing I know I’m registered. What a wonderful oopsy! hehe
Oh Joan
Thank you for your kindness you all have been so gracious and kind. It has helped quite a bit and is ever so touching. I just cannot stand when this stuff happens and I work so very hard to make it not so when it does. Well…I take it as a personal affront. I have decided that because I would not agree to give my son a computer at a very young age and that he has now is some super programmer that the computer gods are obviously getting me back for me not giving my sn over to them sooner. I say we must be even by now. Please aren’t even by now oh great compute one?
Pleeeeaase say it is so.
Seriously Tina, what Joan says. The reason everyone gets so anxious to register is because we all want to be part of the World Domination Tour and we all love the yarn. It’s just that simple. Inhale, sip some tea, and put your feet up for even a few minutes! You’ve more than earned it.
Thank you Tina and computer wizard, finally came back to try again and got in quick as a wink!!
Merry Christmas!
OMG, I was thinking “where is my Rockin’ Sock Club renewal reminder?” Then I checked my profile and it was my old email address. Whew, luckily I was still able to get the 2009 membership in.
