Knitting Along the Viking Trail

The translation of Viking-age designs to modern knitwear inspired Elsebeth Lavold to invent new knitting techniques, resulting in an exhibition that celebrates a millennium of Nordic craftsmanship and ingenuity.

Elsebeth Lavold will hold knitting workshops at the Museum February 7-9, 2009, and the Nordic Knitting Conference takes place March 13-15, 2009.
Nordic Knitting Conference

Intensive, hands-on classes in various Nordic techniques representing Scandinavia ’s rich knitting traditions and contemporary interpretations of this legacy. Internationally-acclaimed knitting experts from around Scandinavia and the U.S. will lead the three-day conference that is expected to draw hundreds of knitters from around the world with over 400 classroom slots available.
