Did you get it? Are you first?

Warning Spoilage | January 24, 2009
By Tina

Please comment here in this post when you receive your package. Remember we do it this way in order to keep the blog readable and usable and chatty.
Otherwise we end up with hundreds of ” I got mine ” posts. This way it is themed all together in one place and gives us the ability to comment back and forth.

400 Domestic packages left here yesterday.
Are you one of them?

I’ll probably get mine in a day or two, it’s domestic. And then another 4-5 days for it to reach Dubai.

Calm down my beating heart. . .

No signs of anything here in Colorado. I’ll wait.

And how are you getting tracking notices? I want one of those too.

On January 25th, 2009 at 9:43 pm Tina said:

When we print the shipping labels you are sent a shipping notice with a tracking number. This is how we have wanted it to work and ( knock on wood) now it does. This is true for the domestic packages. It is a different system for the Canadian and International packages.
As I said above we printed 400 on Friday those of you that received notices are part of that 400. The rest will happen Monday and Tuesday.
We never ever ship all the packages in the same day. Just not physically possible.

On January 26th, 2009 at 5:19 am Sarah said:

400? How many NSKs are there? No kidding it is not physically possible. I have to send a birthday present and card today and have to plan my whole schedule around the post office. I surely can appreciate all your hard work. I can’t wait to see a notice for me! Whoooeeeee.

It’s heeeere! Tina, my fiance got me the club as a gift this year, and I think things are going to his email account (I think this because I had to use his email as my log in for the blog, and also because I did not get a shipping notice) I’ve changed as many things in my profile as I could, but is there a way to make sure that things go to my email instead of his?

Thank you!

PS: ZOMG first year in the club and it’s SO GOOD.

I just checked tracking, and mine is also waiting for me in northern Virginia! Pity I’m here at work in western Maryland for another hour-plus. :-P

I finished my Cleopatra’s Stockings and have my first Cloning Anemone Rib nearly complete. I wound my yarn for Gumdrops and Holidazed last night. I WILL finish the 2008 socks!

Let me send an enormous “Thank you!” to the Blue Moon ladies. As I mentioned in a comment on another post, I had forgotten to renew my membership and was worried about signing up in time to get the first shipment when it went out. I zipped over to the BMFA site and filled out the form lickety-split. Well under an hour later, I had confirmation of my order, notification that my order was charged, AND my USPS tracking information.

Talk about fantastic customer service!! Truly, this is why I keep coming back for clubs and yarn orders. I love shopping from indie vendors like BMFA, especially when they treat me so well. Tina, you and your bunch are great.

I received “Singing the Blues” yesterday, and my husband remarked that he had not seen me so happy, smiling so much, for months. What a wonderful package! The yarn is delectable, I am sure that I lucked into the most beautiful color in beads, and the accompanying information and pattern wis lavish, interesting, and clear. I actually put the materials into the suggested binder immediately, and read every word.

I am planning to try these socks on two circulars, and knit two at a time. I have not mastered the magic loop yet, but I usually use two circulars per sock — I will try 2 for 2 this time.

Just in time for me to have something fun to knit at my daughter’s volleyball tournament this weekend. Of course, I’ll be watching her play, but there will be plenty of time in between matches and it’s a two day tourney! This is my first time with this sock club and I’m really excited!

According to USPS, mine left Portland today. I’m in SoCal, so hopefully not much longer to wait! I’m so excited! Of course, the hardest part is trying to get USPS to actually deliver it from the post office to my house. Will they leave it? Probably not. Will it actually be at the post office when I try to pick it up like they want me to? Ahhh, the never-ending mysteries of the postal service.

I must say it is a bit daunting beginning a knitting project in 33 degree heat (that would be about 92 degrees F), but I will not be deterred. Rock on.

OK, so I broke 3 needles and many a strand of embroidary floss… and nearly all my fingernails… getting the *thingies* (I know, it’s already been said- but…) on the yarn, my fingers are yarn burnt, I ended up using my teeth- flossing will be interesting tonight- It was not fun, it was tedious in an unpleasant way, it was a might painfull…but I am working the first heel flap now!!! Any my boyfriend is bugging me to put them down and work on his sweater… bah! The unpleasantries are behind me, the work has become blissful. I really like the decorative stitching, a little different from what I’ve done before. EASIER! There are a few things in my life… eating boiled peanuts, reading trashy mystery novels, knitting fun patterns… that turn my mind into mush. I’m practically rocking back and forth, humming nondescriptly, going and going. That’s what this is like. Brain massage. Thank you!

NE was closed down today due to snow and ice. I spent the day working my sock and am delighted with it. Hubby surprised me - he saw me struggling to get the “thingies” on the yarn, so while I was out last night he had it all done when I came home. I did use the tubular cast on and I love the stretchiness it creates. My socks tend to be tight at the cast on. This is my first time working with “thingies” and I can’t believe how neatly they go on. I’m so glad I joined!!

My package with the gorgeous yarn arrived yesterday! I love the color, but had a bit of trouble getting the beads on. I ended up resorting to using a length of beading thread tied to a smaller needle at one end, and tied to the yarn with a slip knot that tightened when pulled at the other. Once I got the first few onto the yarn it wend more smoothly, other than a few beads with smaller holes that broke the thread, and made me re-tie it. Now I’m off to find out how to do the tubular cast on, so I can get started

Hi Yvonne: I found that the tip to use nail polish on the end of the yarn worked out very well (once I got the hang of it) plus tweezers. IT still took awhile to put on all the beads and it was a help knowing which was my working yarn (the one with the nail polish) when I took out the tubular cast on. Ginni

Finally arrived in the San Diego, CA area! Another beautiful colorway and design, the RSC team really are the best. I’ve never used beads before either and can’t wait to get started soon. I finished my Wool Peddler’s shawl and almost have my Lacy Prairie shawl finished, so I should be set to CO this weekend… maybe the sock yarn will encourage me to knit the shawl even faster. Great job and thanks again to the designer and everybody at Blue Moon!

Mine arrived on Thursday. I was in a rush to go out, but I just had to stop and open the envelop and it was better than Christmas. Wow, and to think there are 2000 of us out here in the world going crazy about this beautiful yarn and beads. I can’t wait to begin.

My package still hasn’t arrived in Texas. It left Portland on Jan. 27th, so maybe today.

When I got the eagerly anticipated package a couple days ago, and drew out the yarn and saw all the beautiful blues (no HUGE surprise there, but gorgeous!), I sighed and smiled! (though it was dark, and today in sunlight, the richness of the teals and indigos and turquoise and steel blues and ultramarine really comes out)

But when I turned the bag over and saw the beads, I gasped out loud.

WOW!

The pattern is lovely! As is all Sivia’s work. I really have to finish my father’s second sock before I can justify casting these on, but oh, my (blue) heavens, I WANT to start right this moment!

It’s here!! YAY!! My package arrived here in Sweden om Friday, and I’m THRILLED! Great, great colour (with a bit of turqouise and teal, my fave!). First time with beads, but feel comfortable with this lovely, worldwide sock club as support. So, so glad I joined!! This is gonna be a great knitting year! :D

As I suspected, my package arrived while I was away at conference. Still trying to catch up at work and home from that, so not able to start knitting yet. But–gorgeous yarn! I loved it in the skein and love it just as much in the wound ball. This is going to be a joy to knit with.

My Kit arrived Jan.28. Longview, WA is only 40 minutes from Blue Moon so I guess the Portland Post Office is slow. Mom helped me get my yarn ready to use, I need a swift. Any ideas on a good, reasonably priced swift?

Mine came last night. Being a newbie also, I wasn’t sure what to expect. OMG! The yarn - I can feel my stash growing already. I am so glad I decided to join. I haven’t knit with beads yet and I haven’t knit socks with any kind of pattern in them (Rib & STK only). Well, here’s to a new adventure. I can’t what to see what’s next.

Yesterday felt like Christmas here in Quebec and it wasn’t because of all the snow! I was so anxious to see what comprised a kit and I wasn’t disappointed. The colorway is gorgeous and I’m rearing to start out on this new adventure..

Phew! I was beginning to think that there was a very happy customs agent at the border, merrily knitting MY socks. But everything arrived today, safe, sound and blissfully untouched . . .

I begged off my usual Friday night Mah Jong gig (they had 4 without me . .)to start! I have wound my yarn There did not seem to be any problems with knot . . ), strung 200 beads, and knit my cuff. Tomorrow I will start the pattern proper, whilst I wait in line at our local farmer’s market. Life is good!

Just got mine cast on and a little bit knit. My color way is My blue Heaven. The name inside the ball band is Rozanne Potvin. If that is the name of the person who did the dying, many many thanks, Rozanne. It’s beautiful!

With all the knot problems reported in another entry, I am happy to say that I don’t have any knots in mine. I VERY slowly wound the yarn by hand into 2 balls last night and am entranced by the colors. My membership was a surprise gift from my adult children, and I am anxious to get started - although not so anxious that I skip checking for gauge. Then on to the beads - a first for me. I am excited to be here!

Newbie in Iowa here. I was so excited to get the email notification that my sock club package had been shipped. That was a great service! The next day I got an email that it had arrived at my post office early that morning, and it was in my mail box when I got home that night (Jan. 30). Thanks! It was fun to get the “extra” stuff. Love the pattern. I haven’t used beads before so I’m looking forward to trying it. Now if only I didn’t have to work for a living and would have the time to get the yarn wound and cast on…..soon I hope….

I received my package in what seems like an eternity ago! I loved it and had fun getting it ready to knit. Then I became volleyball interrupted! LOL My youngest daughter has been in tournaments every weekend since, and although I knit when she’s not playing, I thought I should brush up on my knitting before I ventured into this sock. This is the last tournament and I’m almost done with my brush up socks. I’m confident that I can tackle this first NSK kit now. YEAH!!

My package arrived today in Finland! And it’s so lovely. And the “thingies” are like a cherry on the cake… I just wish my package could tell me where it had been…. It had at some moment got some water and some of the “fill-in”-papers were a little bit damaged. But not too much. Now I just have to go and buy a binder…
