thanks for the info on Sivia’s website.  She also has a great post in same area about tubular castons for those that have questions.

Knitting in the Round: RS, WS, What side?

January '09 Kit Questions, Notorious Sock Knitters | January 27, 2009
By KHM

heh—help?  The pattern legend stipulates some symbols as “K on WS, P on RS” or other such directions…  is it just me or is this *confusing*?  Because by convention knitting in the round gives us all RS rows?  Or are we to assume that the first row after cuff is a RS or a WS?  Not being difficult just I’m not certain and I can’t really make out such details in the photo—it appears that all stitches in the background are stockinette with the diamond pattern in garter?  Help?

A dab of glue makes a….

January '09 Kit Questions, Warning Spoilage | January 27, 2009

I couldn’t find a needle that would  work with  both the beads and the yarn.  I haven’t used a floss threader since my braces came off 20 years ago.  So here’s what I did.

I took a drop of white glue and rolled the first inch of the yarn in it, rolling with the twist to make a nice sharp point.  After a few minutes of drying, I had a satisfactory beading needle.

Can I knit these on two circulars?

January '09 Kit Questions, Warning Spoilage | January 27, 2009
By Terri Reiskin

I got the kit yesterday - the yarn is amazing and I was so surprised to find the beads in it!  I’m new to the club, and have only made three pairs of plain vanilla “Socks on Two Circulars” from Cat Bordhi, so this is an incredible challenge.  However, I am up for trying it.  It occurred to me, though, that I’d rather use two circulars, as that is the method I know best.  What changes to the directions need to be made to permit this?  Any help I can get would be great to get me going.  Thanks.

Knitting?

Warning Spoilage | January 27, 2009
By Barbara

ok- sounds silly to ask but is it really that simple to just add the beads one after the other before you cast on?  Any tips for someone who has never knit with beads before??  How wonderful to see so much enthusiasm from all the people posting the day they got their package!  I too had my heart rate go up a bit when I saw the mail van and heard the doorbell ring- just wish I could sit and knit knit knit - still have a backlog of other sock club shipments to get to as well.
