Now I’m concerned (but I’ve only just gotten it cast on and a few rows of the ribbing done. I’m knitting the size Large because it (says) it’s for 9″ and I have…erm….muscular legs. I’m worried that maybe I should be knitting the medium size instead. My normal sock is 64 stitches on size 1 needles. Anyone else having sizing issues?

I would do the medium…I had exactly the same thought process and started with the large, but wound up frogging it and starting over with the medium. It fits perfectly, and my ankles are not slender, either. Hope that helps…
I always knit medium, even though I think I have large legs. I think the Blue Moon patterns are kind of standardized so that once you get used to how your gauge comes out on the Blue Moon yarns, you can knit the same size from there on out.

I made a medium and they do fit but a small would have fit better, my sock size is small thought size 7 foot and not extra large calves, I hope this helps.

I too finished my socks today! I carried the pattern into the toe shaping the finish with two “diamonds” pointing at my toes. They fit very nice, a little on the snug side, but I like it!

It would be helpful if everyone who has finished would say what size they knitted and what size foot they have. It appears that the sizing is confusing and people seem to have to size this pattern down. I haven’t started yet (finishing another pair on the needles), but will start this weekend hopefully. I’m a size 9 foot, medium width, with normal size ankles, and usually would knit a medium. The other socks I’ve made were on size 2 needles with 60 or 64 stitches and they were fine. I’ll knit on two circ’s so length of the sock isn’t an issue as I can easily try it on as I go, but I’d like to know what other people are experiencing. Thanks!

Size small is a perfect fit for me - size 6 1/2 - 7 shoe with average legs and ankles.

I measure a 9″ ankle and wear a size 9 shoe but usually use a 64 stitch sock pattern on a size 1 or 1 1/2 needle. I decided to make the medium and do the 12 repeats on the heel for a high instep. They were perfect except that I would like the ribbing a little tighter.
