PLEASE HELP!!!!
ok, so here i am knitting the heel flap, and i read the instructions:
“Repeat rows 13 and 14 eleven more times or until heel flap measures desired depth”
what does desired depth mean?
I’m super scared now…Â so should i knit it longer?
how do i know if i should knit it longer?

Desired depth is how long you want the heel flap to be - IE, how long the back of the sock will be from your ankle to the bottom of the heel. If you’ve knit rows 13 and 14 eleven more times, you should have a heel flap somewhere in the range of two inches. You can pull the sock on right now and try it out! If the heel flap is long enough to get to the bottom of your heel, move on to the turning the heel directions. If it’s a bit short, knit a few more rows. If you knit more rows, you’ll have to pick up more stitches along the sides of the heel flap but it won’t be a big problem.
Good luck! You can do it!
When I make socks for my mom I always make the heel flap longer than the pattern says because she has a really high instep. I found this out by trial and error, so it is one of those things you can modify to make the sock a perfect fit.
I usually like my heel flaps between 2 and 2.5 inches (usually closer to 2.5, but no less than 2).
Thank you all soo much!!!:D
I think i get it!
(i just tried it on and it feels divine….)
