Notorious Sock Knitters, Warning Spoilage | February 16, 2009
For anyone who wants to make the mini-sock keychain:

I used the basic toe-up mini-sock instructions from here:Â http://telltaleknitter.blogspot.com/2009/02/little-feet.html
And when I got to the leg stitches, I followed this chart:

Enjoy!

Thanks so much for posting this. I am going to make one and hang it on my NSK key chain. I’m hoping to make a mini sock of each shipment.
Me too! Or maybe I’ll switch it up and make a mini-mitten in the fall
Thank you so much I might get a pr. of these done!
Thank you! That was nice of you to do!
Brilliant! I can’t wait to finish my socks so I can make one of these little things for my Christmas tree next winter.
WAY COOL Kathyrn!! I have been waiting and waiting for someone to make this jump!!
These are a great way to remember our RSC kits!! I cut and pasted from your website to make a pattern and am almost as excited about these as I was to get the first kit of the new year. Can’t wait to get these socks done so I can start my mini socks. Now I can make others from leftovers of 2008 RS! Since I vowed not to get too much new yarn or projects until I make a dent on what I already have…..well now I dont have to. Ha! Ha! You are so clever. Knitters are great!
Making these mini-socks is a good way to remember the club socks that I’ve given away. Thanks for sharing this!
I love it! I’m going to have to make some!
Wonder if the Emergency Sock yarn would be enough for a mini-sock? I literally used all of my Dragon Dance when making socks for my daughter-in-law last year and all I have left is the ES yarn! Kinda hate to use it but I LOVE the idea of knitting up a mini sock for every kit! Kathryn, how much did it take??
My finished sock weighs about 7g (including beads)…
So the yardage from the label says 360 yds /128g = 2.1825 yds/g
2.1825 yds * 7g = 19.6875 ~ 20 yds.
So unless my math is wrong (totally possible if not downright likely) 20 yds ought to be just enough because the beads add some weight too…
Yes!!! My hubby has been bugging me ever since I got the kit to do this with the emergency yarn ! (Really it’s been nonstop) I was going to do a stockinette but I love the fact that it’s the same pattern even more! Thanks for posting it!
I just weighed my emergency sock yarn and it was about 3g - I don’t think it will be enough to make the mini-sock unless maybe you drop down to 000 needles
OMG! That is so freekin’ cute, I can hardly stand it. Seriously, I have to make one of these. Thanks for diguring it out!
That’s the cutest thing I’ve seen… I’m going to dig out some sock yarn and make a bunch!!
Thank you so much for sharing this. This keychain sock is so cute–especially with the beads! I think they’ll make great Christmas decorations too.
Thank you for this. I’m very proud of my little keychain sock as I can casually show it off just by having my keys in my hand. It’s a bit harder to show off one’s socks in a casual manner.
How adorable is that??? I LOVE it!
So cute!
