Camp KnittyhaHA, Notorious Sock Knitters | February 24, 2009
That would be Camp KnittyhaHA!
At the Resort at Port Ludlow in that week at the end of March, that flows right into April. Where there will be lovely spring breezes and sun ( I swear, I have this on good authority ) and lots and lots of knitting. Great fun. That is the theme of Camp this year, fun. As much sock knitting related hilarity and creativity as we can cram squeeze into 5 days.
At the end of this week, we are sending out your Camp preparedness packages and your homework challenge. Get your needles ready NSK’s and that includes you too, Steph and Cat. I do believe I have foiled your slacker plan to use the chicken forever and ever, as your camp project. ( I can feel this so backfiring on me. Can’t you?)
I have to tell you that when I found out that they were closing Rosario for a few years I panicked. You know that feeling when your whole abdomen seizes and you cannot breathe. Yep, that is the one I am talking about. In waltzes the ever so lovely and wonderful Dana Barrett who worked really hard to find us a place to have Camp. Thanks to Dana we have the Resort at Port Ludlow.
It is a beautiful setting.
Paul, the Inn manager and his staff are very excited to have us.

I knew it was the place for us when I saw this feathered friend.

The clincher for me though was when I mentioned the whole vegetarian issue and was met with respect and some of the best food I have ever eaten. These people know the Inn keeping business and I think that we will be happy here.

I know I am really excited. I am looking forward to seeing all of you, having a massive amount of knit fun, being around the water and the cheese. Paul knows his cheese!
See you soon.
P.S. On March 1st the prices for rooms revert to normal pricing so please make sure you have reserved your rooms by then.

I am so ready to go! Thanks in advance for providing this opportunity, I know you are all incredibly busy with Sock Summit and Camp plans. I can’t get away for Sock Summit because it is the beginning of the school year, and Sock Camp last year was a such peaceful retreat for me.
I was worried that Camp may be cancelled when I heard about the Sock Summit. I look forward to a big dose of knit therapy. Thank you thank you thank you!
And did they mention that the rooms all have gas fireplaces? Heavenly!
This is going to be such fun! I’m looking forward to all of it even the homework. So far a healthy DH and all is right with my world. Fingers are crossed and prayer wheels spinning that it stays that way until, at least, after camp is over for this year. Now to finish the first kit before camp and the next kit arrives. Happy Knitting, Alice
I am so excited!!!!! Seriously can’t wait!!! Thank goodness you are sending Debbi and Susan down here for a few days to take the edge off of waiting for camp!! After Stitches, its just a few weeks away!! How you do it, I know not!
Well, i can’t wait either. This is a great treat and i welcome the adventure with open arms and empty needles! Can”t wait to meet these other NSKs. I will have my fun cap for sure.
Thanks Tina and gang. Check another off the list and put three more on, right?? HaHa
PS.Irishgirlie, i wanna be you when i grow up!! the life of riley!
The resort sounds wonderful! I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us this year!
I’m so jealous….I’ll live vicariously through all of y’all’s experiences!!
I am very jealous…. That place looks so beautiful. But alas it is to close to Madrona to sneak back to that coast, I WILL make sock summit. Have fun all.
There’s going to be cheese??!!! *swoon* I can’t wait!
You all have a wonderful time!!! I’m so sorry I can’t be with you this year, but I have my sights set on the Sock Summit to make up for it. I will miss being there so I’ll have to make do with reading the blogs and anything I can find about the camp antics. Rest up now, because sock camp is not for wimps, you need energy!!!
I wonder if poor Paul and his staff have a clue what they’re in for… I hope they haven’t bought into the stereotype and think we’re going to be a bunch of sedate old ladies sipping tea and nibbling on delicate watercress sandwiches.
(Oh, wait! I *am* an old lady. I’m just not very good at “sedate”.)
And there’s a dog, or is that one of the staff? I love dogs as much as you love birds (especially if they belong to other people and I don’t need to walk them on wet cold days). I am so happy - except for the homework issue, will brownies do instead?
That is Paul’s dog Jet and definitely part of the crew. And Jen, he has met me???
wth woman
I think this may count as my Official First
-=+> DUH!! <+=-
moment. He’s met Tina. ‘Nuff said!
(But I’m still older than you are
)
CHEESE! Add CHEESE to Sock Camp, and what more could this Wisconsin girl ask for?
I am so looking forward to it: in a month, I’ll be boarding the Empire Builder and heading West! This time, my plan is NOT to be finishing my homework on the ferry….I’m impatient to find out what (non-chickeny) homework is in store for us!
I’m so excited - my first sock camp! And I’m glad to hear there will be good vegetarian fare! And fireplaces! And Seattle has Trader Joe’s so I’m bringing an empty suitcase. Why must March be so loooong??
March needs to be long Ang so I can have my #$%* together.
and Jen, I will take that one.
ok off to plan massive fun for you all
mwahahahahaha
evil.
even while cockeye is on a road trip??
Glad to hear ang is a rookie too.
(hiding under fun cap)

So, pickle pickers are involved? Probably better for Ariel than a beefstick.
LOL!
Sorry, I meant olive pickers.
How could there be olive pickers there are no olive trees in the Pacific Northwest. At least not that I am aware of.
We have a cheesy thing going here so Cathy-Cate needs to bring the Wisconsin squeeky cheese and I’ll bring the Maytag Edam and Blue Cheese. If someone is coming from Vermont we can have white cheddar too. I’ll be on the train with Cathy-Cate enjoying every relaxing minute of it and all the scenery too. Happy Knitting All, Alice
Ah, but Cockeyed’s here in Nor Cal w/Etta Mae where there are olive trees. I think you’re plotting something for us Campers.
Tina, Thanks for the posting the photos. Looks like knitter’s paradise to me!
What me plot something. I don’t know what your talking about?
WHAT NARTIAN SAID! and my cap lock button was not stuck.
Alice, if i am the only New Englander, count on me for the Vermont Cheddar! lol
Plot away oh our depraved dyer. we aren’t looking.
Hmm. I happen to know that there ARE pickles in the PNW! Pickle pickers. Hmmmm.
(Could be used for cheese curds, too, but why? Half the fun is licking your fingers when you’re done eating them!)
Gads, Tina-I finally have time to see this post and tell you how absolutely thrilled and excited I am to see you! (Of course, not nearly soon enough for me!) Tony will be thrilled to see Jet and Lil’ Emp says he won’t be left behind-he wants to go-so you have him as your unofficial ‘kid’ mascot again!
This is my first year in the sock club so I didn’t know anything about the Camp. Unfortunately I have a trip to Seattle planned for next week that I can’t change so I won’t be able to make it this year. But I will be be prepared for next year!! I hope you all have a great time!
