I´ve finished my socks and I loooove them! They are so soft and squishy, like walking on soft springs! I cannot wait for the next shipment!

Small error in labeling heel flap chart?

January '09 Kit Questions | February 13, 2009
By Judy

In the Queen of Beads pattern, I believe that the heel flap charts are mis-labled.  The flap for the large size is labled for medium and vice versa.

Sock Camp?

Notorious Sock Knitters | February 10, 2009
By dafracks@comcast.net

After learning my job is going away in May I canceled my plans to attend sock camp.  I was being responsible.  Until today.  My sweetheart has given me the gift of sock camp for Valentine’s Day!  It’s almost too wonderful!

Please tell me there are slots left.   I’ll sob my eyes out again if not.

Hints for slubs and thick spots

Notorious Sock Knitters | February 10, 2009
By Sock Junkie

Well it finally happened, I was knitting along quite merrily and had no notion of knots when suddenly I came to a slubby spot.  There were several thick areas of slubs and weirdly spun yarn.  What I noticed was that some of the slubs were not joined to the yarn itself and it was just a frizzy spot in the yarn.  These I just pulled off using my fingers.  A few of the slubs surrounded the yarn and would slide down the yarn as I tried to slip my beads over them.  Almost like a bead itself.  These, I very very carefully used finger nail clippers to trim the sliding slub until I could pull it off of the yarn.  It worked like a charm.  Now, as far as the knots go,  I am hoping I don’t find one.  I can say I am a frequent BMFA junkie and this is the first time in 16 skiens this has happened!  So you newbies out there, this is a new one on me and this is my 3rd year!!!

Question for DPN knitters

Notorious Sock Knitters | February 10, 2009
By Leslie

I’m about midway through decreasing the gusset using 5 DPN’s. I have needle one with half the heel (10 stitches), needle 2 with half the heel (10 stitches), needle 3 has gusset and half of instep and needle 4 has half of instep and gusset. I find this very awkward and tight to knit with so many stitches on needles 3 and 4. I have experimented and moved stitches around and still find it awkward. Any recommendations on how best to split up the stiches at this point of the sock?? Thanks in advance…Leslie

Question about gusset

Notorious Sock Knitters | February 09, 2009
By Andrea Madden

This is my second pair of socks. I turned the heel. then I knit half of the heel placed a marker and knit the rest of the heel for a total of 20 stitches. Size medium.

I am not sure what to do next. Is the heel flap the long piece that the heel sits on? I am confused. Do I pick a stitch in each slipped stitch along the long piece that the heel sits on.

Does the instep start at the end of that long piece ?  Are the instep stitches on the other needles?  Can you see how confused I am? Thanks for your help.
