Camp KnittyhaHA, Notorious Sock Knitters | March 09, 2009
In that whole your wish is our command as long as we can make it world realm, JC Briar has consented to teach the following Bind-OFf Bonanza class. Yeah JC!!
JC will share her vast knowledge and skills in teaching us about supple and seamless bind-offs for sock tops, bind-offs that blend into ribbing, and decorative bind-offs.
Here is what she needs you to bring with;
Create three swatches in k1, p1 rib, and three swatches in stockinette, as follows: Cast on 10 stitches (or more, if you like). Work even in rib or stockinette for 1″ (or more, if you like). Cut yarn, leaving a tail AT LEAST four times the width of the swatch. Place stitches on stitch holder or spare needle. Then create a fourth swatch in k1, p1 rib (for a total of seven swatches); do NOT cut the yarn for this last swatch.
Materials
Plain, smooth, light colored, worsted-weight yarn; needles of a size appropriate for your yarn; a second set of needles, two sizes smaller than the first set; a crochet hook, roughly US size G/6 (4mm); a tapestry needle.
Has everyone gotten their homework packages??
Stay tuned tomorrow where I will tell you what I would like you to do to prepare yourself for my class.

stuck still thinking about the ring….
Homework package, check. Progress on homework = 0. Ugh. Can’t someone else do it? (a little Simpson’s reference there)
JC’s homework sounds very do-able. Even on the train. Yay!
Tina’s homework (or should that be, Angeus McCraebe’s?’ homework?) is something I have great plans for in my head, but have yet to cast on for. Hmmm. Better do something about that soon. I may need help bringing part of the vision to reality though - I’m no crocheter, but there’s a tiny part that needs crochet, the way I see it. I can learn. My 11-year-old knows how! (Well, my mother taught her, she can teach me too.)
Preparing for dyeing class. Hmmm again. All ears! (And eyes!)
It’s not JC’s homework that has me concerned! That’s no-brainer-ish. It’s the other homework that -ack!-takes a bit of planning, concentration, and if I’m lucky, a splash of creativity!
Have I missed something? Does Tina have additional homework for us or just the Crabby Guy?
