what size to make?

Hi Everyone,
I am new here and just starting with the Fraggle Squiggle socks, but am having trouble with the sizing? I have never knit patterned socks before and my size is inconsistent with the chart? I wear a 6 1/2 shoe, but the circimference of my very wide foot is 8 3/4 inches. The socks go to 8 1/4 and that is the large size which will probably fall down my legs? I was able to ‘almost get guage with size 1 needles, its still a bit big, so should I try something else instead? Any ideas? Thanks very much, I will check in later, my daughter is having our first grandbaby today, very far away and we are on dial-up so I need to keep the phone free..

missing pages of Fraggle pattern?

My Fraggle pattern is missing pages 6 and 7.  Is this a page # type or am I missing 2 pages of the pattern? 

The bottom of my page 5 says “marker, SM, k2tog, knit to end of round - 2 fewer sole sts.”

The top of page 8 says “Repeat rouinds 1 and 2 until 29 (33, 37) sole sts remain…”

Any idea?

Does anyone else have purple fingers?

I didn’t notice this with the first sock but I’m finding some dye transfer to my hands.  Should I do anything special when I first wash them (to set the dye) so I don’t have purple toes?
