County Fair Winner

Notorious Sock Knitters | August 27, 2009
By Joan

I so wanted to finish a pair of RSC socks to enter in the county fair this year.  But, I had the toe to finish on Fraggles and I had not started the In Season socks yet because all that garden produce is being harvested and preserved.  Also, I had given Blue Heaven and Rogue Roses to my daughter who loves all RSC socks and is the recipient of most of the socks.  So, at the final hour I decided to enter my pair of Serendipity Socks.

Two days later I was surprised with a “Best of Show” ribbon.   The socks were displayed attractively showing the short-row heel and the star toe.  And, the purple rosette looked gorgeous with the orange-red of the socks.   Credit goes to Adrienne Fong for the outstanding design and Tina the depraved dyer who brought the design into technicolor with her alchemy.

Our county fair is small–a rural county of 32,000 people.  There were 40-50 knitted items entered in the Knitting Section and the sole award is that purple rosette, which I will gladly share with Adrienne and Tina.

Hello

Announcements | August 18, 2009
By Tina

Hello NSK’s just dropping in to say hi and that it was so wonderful to meet so many of you at the summit and that I miss you and that September is right around the corner. Another shipment. Holy crap September is right around the corner. Ohh…Joann.

I think it might be time for a contest or game. Joann Debbi and I will put our twisted heads together this week and see what we can come up with.

Hope everyone is enjoying the last legs of summer. We are finally getting a little summer sun here in Oregon.

What are we all working on?  I bet it is socks.

Yarn Substitution for Rogue Roses

Notorious Sock Knitters | August 14, 2009
By Geri Johnston

I was all set to start knitting Rogue Roses for my Mother-in-Law when I remembered she is allergic to Wool. Does anyone have suggestions for a non-wool yarn, similiar in colour and weight, that I could use for this pattern? Thanks

July Socks

Notorious Sock Knitters | August 06, 2009
By Val

To work the heel on these socks it says to use 33 stitches. If I divide the sock in half, that is 32 and the cuff is patterned according to 32. Where do I pick up the 33rd stitch? Thanks,

knitting in the early hours

Notorious Sock Knitters | August 06, 2009

Well, I am knitting July’s socks..I am thinking that 230 am is not my best time for figuring out tricky things?
I am at work and I feel like I am the only one awake, anyone out there?
By the way, my daughter had a lovely little boy after I wrote last time and I just got back from spending 10 days with them..it was lovely.
