Notorious Sock Knitters | August 27, 2009
I so wanted to finish a pair of RSC socks to enter in the county fair this year. But, I had the toe to finish on Fraggles and I had not started the In Season socks yet because all that garden produce is being harvested and preserved. Also, I had given Blue Heaven and Rogue Roses to my daughter who loves all RSC socks and is the recipient of most of the socks. So, at the final hour I decided to enter my pair of Serendipity Socks.
Two days later I was surprised with a “Best of Show” ribbon. The socks were displayed attractively showing the short-row heel and the star toe. And, the purple rosette looked gorgeous with the orange-red of the socks. Credit goes to Adrienne Fong for the outstanding design and Tina the depraved dyer who brought the design into technicolor with her alchemy.
Our county fair is small–a rural county of 32,000 people. There were 40-50 knitted items entered in the Knitting Section and the sole award is that purple rosette, which I will gladly share with Adrienne and Tina.
