Anybody know when sign ups will be started? I have to start budgeting for the 2010 club, and would like a lil advanced notice. Thanks!

Information is usually included with the last shipment in November along with news about the next sock camp.

I was wondering this too. Thanks Alice! This is my first year in the club, and I am thinking about trying to go to the sock camp next spring, if I get into the club again. I know that there is homework involved for the sock camp. Can anybody give me an idea how much homework usually needs to be done before going to the camp? I am not the world’s fastest or most experienced knitter, so I would appreciate any information on how to prepare myself for what will undoubtedly be a major learning experience for me (although a completely fun one, I am sure!) I have been completing the socks without too much difficulty - I had to frog my rogue roses and start again with bigger needles due to size issues - but the second attempt is going well. Any advice on camp? Thanks!

Hey Kelly, Don’t fret over the “homework”. It’s all very do-able, depends on what the various teachers want. Usually a swatch or 2. And you get out of sock camp what you put into it. Most of all it’s GREAT fun and lots of new friends. I’m sure you’ll love it. I usually frog each project at least once, but perseverance is the name of the game.

Be afraid be very afraid. Most of the campers are supreme uber-achievers. Amazing things come to camp as a Tina homework project. And then there are the slackers like me who do just the minimum to pass. Of course there are also the super-creative slackers (initials SP-M &CB) who wait until they are both in the same location to start their homework. Every year is different but SP-M & CB manage to link them all back to the very first homework assignment which was to knit a fowl camp mascot.

Kelly, I was a first year camper last year, and OH MY! It was soooooo muuuuuch fuuuuuun! I honestly fretted about the homework more than I should have. The “creative homework” was hardest for me b/c I am prefer to follow directions. But it was fun and I did most of it on the plane on the way there. And I was amazed at what people came up with. Like Alice said, be afraid, be also be prepared to be amazed :-)

Great! Thanks for the help! I am so excited to join another year of Rockin Sock Club, and possibly (if time and budget allows) trying to go to the camp.
