Camp Crows Feet, Camp KnittyhaHA, Not Socks, Notorious Sock Knitters | May 01, 2009
sneak, sneak, sneak,
peeeeeeek,
tiptoe, tiptoe,
glance,
plop!
Knock, Knock, Ding Dong!
(run away, run away)
You’ve just received a virtual May Basket from a fellow club member!
(Don’t pass it on the violets will droop.)
Just visualize a small Dixie cup with a pipe cleaner handle filled with violets and Bracht’s candies, oh and meltaway peppermints.
Left on your doorsteps by a secret admirer. (Which this isn’t because you all know who left this as it’s at the top of the page.)
Hugs and Happy Happy May Day, Alice in the Heartland
P.S. Happy (later in) May birthday Tina!

Is there going to be a sock camp in 2009, or will all of the sock energy go into the Sock Summit?

The camp projects that have been done in the past two years haunt me. The chickens and the TP holders. They are so wonderful and I think that they should be seen and appreciated.
I have mentioned this to some gallery friends and have been playing with putting together an installation to show at appropriate museums. Before I go further into this project I thought I should check in with you to see if you are interested at all.
The only drawback I see is that you would need to part with your lovely creations or knit another.
Please respond here in the comments and then email me tina@bluemoonfiberarts.com if you are interested.
thanks all
I hope everyone is enjoying this last blast of summer vacation.

Although still in the process I have put a fair amount of the camp photo’s on our flickr account;
http://www.flickr.com/photos/25623856@N08/
There are in sets. Like all of the tp covers are together and the monkeys…
It would be great if you could go in and add a description to which ever of these works of art is yours. It is my hope that we create not just a photo library but a sort of museum for these so that everyone that was not there can also get a bit of the experience.
Also you can add your camp pics to this also.
There are many more pics to place. “So many photo’s so little time.”
I do believe that covers it for now! (get it)
toodles!!

A few people have let me know via email that they did not receive the 2008 Sock Camp Camper List that was sent out last month. If yours is missing, give me a shout and I’ll ship one your way!

Well almost. I will agree with Stephanie that Camp has a mortality rate. I think we will need to make “Sock Camp Survivor” buttons for next year.
It was seriously crazy fun and even my wildest dreams did not hold a candle to what we all created together. I might be the head instigator but the magic of camp involves every single person there. We are just a bunch of stitches in a great pattern, of course in Gauge! (sorry)
Here are a few of my favorite moments: ( click on photo to enlarge)
I had not a clue that when I was sent to open the front door that this is what would greet me when I returned. “The Yarn Enforcers”

“Go with the flow swap” Where we played pass the TP cover to Cockeyed’s tale of hilarity enacted by Cat, Steph and Hot Flash.
Preformance Art at its absolute best. The infamous cockamamie chicken returns for yet another anatomy lesson from her creators Stephanie and Cat, the dynamic duo.

The visual feast that was the camp homework. So creative and wonderful. I want a museum showing for these. Every single one was a work of art.
Serious monkey madness.
Informative and entertaining classes where we learned all kinds of sock related goodness including exactly what is my fault and what is not.
Ahhhh, knitting!
and of course wrapping things up with a little sock puppet theatre.
So much fun and still legal, amazing!!
It is taking me a wee bit longer to recover than I would have predicted. I apologize for taking so very long to get anything up here. I figure with all of everyone else’s posts you did get a taste of what was going down. We have a Flickr account that I will post the massive amount of pics on and also give you the info. so you can post yours also if you like. With all that we have together we could make quite a record of this experience.
To campers, counselors and staff . My heart is so very full and from there I thank you for every single moment.

Thank you Tina. Â I can’t say that I have ever had more fun than I had a sock camp. Â Thank you to all the Sockateers, JC, Cat, Steph and Cookie. Â It was an unbelievable experience.

Four of us gathered last night to begin the assembling of campers for the great pre-camp yarn crawl. Provided no flights are delayed we will be heading out around noon to terrorize yarn stores all over the greater Seattle area. First stop will be Weaving Works, then we may ooze on over to Acorn Street. Time will tell. After that it will be a scenic trip through the Arboretum to Tricorter. At anytime we may cut away and head to the ferry for our trip to Bainbridge Island and Churchmouse Yarns and Teas. There is word of Ice Cream being nearby so a pause may be in order. Dinner is to happen at Cafe Nola followed by a ferry trip back to Seattle ahead of the Mariners game letting out. Hopefully we’ll get a flickr page going so we can show you some of the stash enhancements that we make. More as comments later. Happy Knitting, Alice
