Camp Crows Feet | February 01, 2008
Anyone want a roommate? I’ll split the ‘rent’….uhhh, I’m a 38 year old female, I’m married have a two and a half year old (who is staying home). I like long walks on the beach and-wait that’s something else…I don’t smoke (…anymore, but when I’m 80 it’s two packs a day I might have one) I’m not too chatty, go to bed at 10pm, drink coffee excessively, have an entire room in my house dedicated to stash and so will be wearing the same thing every day because I need the room in my suitcase for yarn …you know, that same old story :)lemme know, lizzyelstonATcoxDOTnet

This started over on Ravelry but I think it needs to be here too. There are at least 6 people interested in doing a yarn crawl either on the way to camp or on the way home. I’m planning on getting to Seattle early and scoping out the possibilities and maybe getting a route planned out. My current plan is to pick up my riders at the airport on Saturday and head out on the crawl as early as possible. I’d like to include Churchmouse Yarns(?) on the crawl if possible and I’ve heard many good things about Weaving Works. If anybody has any other suggestions please leave a comment. If you’d like to join this merry band, leave a comment. If you have a preference for before or after camp please leave that comment too. We may have access to a small school bus for this un-sponsored activity. I do need to be in Friday Harbor Sunday night as that is where I have reservations. A trip to the local alpaca farm is in the works for either Sunday or Monday morning. Looking forward to the adventure. Happy Knitting, Alice

I was at sock camp last year, and I’m sure some of you remember me since I am a bit of a troublemaker.
I’m so excited to be going again this year! Do any of you have plans to get together for a Seattle yarn crawl before camp or carpool to Anacortes? I’ll be flying in and staying with family over the weekend for my birthday but if people wanted to meet up early on Monday that would be fun.
For all of you who are looking forward to your first year at sock camp, it was a BLAST! I didn’t get half as much knitting done as I thought I would. Last year they sent out an info pack before camp telling us what supplies we needed and giving some “homework” to complete before camp.
I guess the only real “tip” I have is that most of Orcas Island isn’t open (it’s not the tourist season yet) so food options for dinner are pretty much limited to eating at the resort - but don’t worry they have a pretty good range of food. We did go out one time while I was there to a really nice little restaurant, but I think it was one of very few that were open. The resort is also pretty far out of the main “town” area so it’s not easy to just pop over there all the time.
Oh and get to the ferry early!
Hope to see you there!
