January Kit Questions | February 01, 2008
No, in no way have I finished my first pair but… I am finished with the heel and wanted to remind you all to hold the yarn with some extra tension on the w&t. Knit side good for me but I let the purl side slide a little. I will try to smooth out the laxity later or maybe just leave for an “design element”. I looks like a special lace effect. Anyway…since I am new to RSC, I was wondering where do I find out the information about the administrative part of the club.

i knit with 2 circular needles and have knit many pairs but i am stumped on this heel pattern. i don’t “recognize” it as heel construction. There is not standard heel flap then decreasing and then gusset. i am working the large size so i have 36 stiches on each circular needle… but the pattern calls for 43 stitches. My lace pattern is automatically centered because ALL my heel stitches are on one need and ALL the instep stitches are on the other. Help… i am sooo confused.

This is my first year in the club and obviously my first pattern but I was wondering what shoe size does a Women’s Small, Medium and Large correspond to? How does this take into account foot width and circumference? I would greatly appreciate any input from the more experienced members (or those who have already started/finished their socks.) I have small ankles and thin, long feet (depending on the shoe 10.5 to 12). I am a bit torn as to which size to try.I know that gauge varies from knitter to knitter, but I am curious to know what size needles people are using to knit their socks to obtain this gauge? I apparently don’t own small enough needles to obtain the proper gauge. (I need 00 or 000 needles, my US 0 just isn’t small enough.)

I am just starting the lace part. I am fairly new to knitting (Apr of ‘07) and this is my 4th pair of socks and the first using magic loop. I am starting the lace and did the first row. I am sure it is obvious that 11 stiches in the pattern repeat does not divide nicely into 64 stiches of the sock. My question is (before I get too far down the leg and find I messed up) is when I get the the end of the first row there are only 2 stiches of the k4 of the pattern, do I k4 and then start my next row from there (2 stiches in on the first needle)? If so, where do I put the marker or does is just move to mark where the next odd numbered row starts? Thanks in advance for any tips.

I was just wondering if International shipment were going out at the same time as USA shipments? Last year I never received my kit “later” than everyone else, and being in Canada, I haven’t seen any sign of it yet. I was just wondering if they were going out in the mail a few days earlier than USA to arrive at “about the same time” as the USA kits?
Just wondering and excited for Kit number 1 of 2008!
