General Knitting Questions, March Kit Questions | March 27, 2008
Can someone help me? On Leafling, I keep ending up with too many stitches between the markers after the first row in which we do the LLI and RLI increases. I’m probably not doing them correctly- but I’m stumped so far. I am making the size large. I knew how to knit yesterday, really I did!

So, last week I was attempting, with dismal results, to knit my 2nd Jan club sock. Personally, the pattern isn’t that challenging to me…I have to pay attention, but it’s well within my skill set.
I could *not* knit that sock properly to save my life. In about 3 days I knit about 2 inches (say about 5-7 hours…really), and those 2 inches needed to be ripped out in the end. Yesterday, I actually ripped back to half the ribbing on the top and started again.
I think I now know what was happening…I think I was forgetting yarn-overs, because I did it tonight, came out short with my count, 3 stitches left at the end when there should have been 4, ripped back, tried again, same result, ripped back…thought a bit then. Came to the “dropped a yo” solution–found it, was right, did NOT rip back to fix the problem, patched it and moved on. I can hear your teeth grinding from here…I know, but geez louise…I cannot bear ripping out AGAIN. Despite this, I’m almost to the foot. In 2 days–about 3.5 hours.
Have any of you had this issue? I can’t imagine I’m alone. Where you simply cannot…CANNOT…figure out what you are doing wrong, in a pattern that really shouldn’t confound you??
thought I’d toss this to the group. Discuss amongst yourselves… *grin*
General Knitting Questions, Notorious Sock Knitters | March 17, 2008
I’m headed to Sweden, Denmark and possibly Norway in a couple of weeks and will be gone a month. I will be visiting Götene and Lidköping mostly. I was wondering if a meet up would be possible. If not, are there any yarn stores in the vicinity that I shouldn’t miss??? I really want to learn to make a Scandinavian sweater while I’m there. I’ll be enlisting my mother-in-law to help me. I might just have to make a pair of socks to match. The latest club sock is going to arrive in my mail box just in time. 10 and 1/2 hours of plane knitting should get me pretty far and that’s just on the way there.

I am finally wearing my last year’s socks. I know. I know. I just knit them and allowed them “alone” time with the other socks. My friends have finally made me feel guilty about leaving them alone in my knitting room so I am wearing them this year. Now, how do I wash them so that they last? Hand wash? Machine wash? See, another great reason not to wear them…..

I’m making the medium sock on DPNs. I have 22 stitches on each DPN (2 lace repeats worth) to begin the lace. I see that round 1 of the lace pattern starts with a YO that seems like it would be tricky at the beginning of a round. Will this just work, or do I need to adjust the stitches somehow to avoid the YO as the first “stitch” of a new round? (This will happen 3 times in the round the way I have my stitches divided…)
