Left Over Sock Yarn Blankie

General Knitting Questions | February 15, 2008
By Knit & Purl Mama

Hey Knitters!

I’m working on a blankie (Hoping it’ll be his security blanket)(not sure what age children get attached to a blankie, but he’s only 13 months old) and I’m making it out of left over sock yarn. I am not repeating any yarn twice in the blankie. I’m wondering if there is anyone out there with leftover bits from socks that you have made, that you do not need anymore. If so, I blog here and you can email me at graphicdesignchick at hotmail dot com. I would really appreciate any help, as I hope to not run out of left over bits and I can only knit so many pairs of socks in one year! Oh, by the way, I do not need much, each square only uses about 5 grams!

 Thanks!

Blockin’ Sockin’?

General Knitting Questions | February 09, 2008
By NewarkKnitter

Not a panic question here at all, but one I really would love to find out more about.  What is the prevailing wisdom on blocking socks?  Using those cute wooden paddles?  Does blocking last beyond a first wash?  I’ve not really found any information on this yet even in my sock pattern books.  Thought this would be the place to find out!  Back to knitting for now.  Yours, Jabberwocky in NJ.

Anyone from the 2006 sock club?

General Knitting Questions | February 05, 2008
By Edna

I am just now knitting up the Marble Arches pattern…and my question is…Do I follow the right-twist chart first then do the left-twist chart next or do I do these alternately for each row?  I am a little confused about that or maybe I am just tired and need to rest up before I continue.  Thanks for any help in advance.

Foot Measurement Help

General Knitting Questions | February 04, 2008
By Ann Foultz

OK — I have a confession to make.  I know this is silly of me to get to be as old as I am and not really know what the “ball” of my foot is.  Is this the part right under my toes that is usually the widest part of my foot?  And that is where I should measure for my foot circumference?  I did notice in with the charts & other info they sent us they have some hints for measuring the length & width of my foot, does anyone else have anything helpful to say?  I have knit 4 or 5 pairs of socks now, but have never felt confident about knowing how to measure my foot.  Thanks.

Interesting Problem

General Knitting Questions, Notorious Sock Knitters | February 04, 2008
By Nadine Blair

I got the first sock about 3/4 completed in size small and decided that I wanted it longer and a bit bigger so I decided to make a medium.  Here is the problem.  In the small the pattern striped beautifully but in the medium it wants to pool.  Same needles, same knitter so same tension.   Any ideas?
