May Kit Questions, Notorious Sock Knitters | July 02, 2008
I’m knitting the gussets on the Cleo socks and have increased them to 15 sts. It seems like they’re already far enough back on my foot and if I go to 19 sts, the socks aren’t going to fit properly. I’m a novice sock knitter, though, so don’t really trust my own judgment on this.
Has anyone else had this experience with the pattern? And if I stop the gussets now, what other adjustments will I need to make?

I wear size 35 european or 5-5.5 american shoe WIDE that’s 21.5 cm long and 9 cm wide. 8.5inches around with a high arch. Large size pattern won’t fit right small would be too tight. Any suggestions? I did the fire with 56 sts and leafling with 50. size 1 and 2 needles respectively. This pattern looks hard to adjust to my crazy foot. I do have lots of problems finding shoes to fit correctly! Thanks for amy help!

I’m having a problem that i haven’t seen discussed yet. I’m working on the heel flap. The directions give written instructions for Rows 1, 2 and 3, and then it says to repeat rows 3 and 4 until a certain number of stitches remain. But there is no instruction for this mysterious row 4….. Anyone else notice this? What did you do?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Has anyone done a different toe on their May socks? One that doesn’t require a provisional cast-on? I’m on travel, without a crochet hook, and just had to frog. Poor planning on my part. If so, how did you do it?

I’m at a bit of a loss. Finished the toe (love it, btw!), started the foot. I’m getting the lovely, pronounced front on the 1/1 LTC side (beginning of the round), but the other side (end of the round), with the 1/1 RTC is a bit of a mess!
I don’t know whether it’s the way I’m doing the 1/1 RTC - slipping one stitch to cable need, holding at back (as in, behind right needle and yarn), k1tbl, then k1 from cable stitch - or whether it’s the side ladder pattern.
On round 2 of the side ladder, I’m doing “k2tog tbl, yo, k1tbl” on both ends. I’m not reversing to “k1tbl, yo, k2tog tbl? on the 1/1 RTC side. Should I be reversing? Or could it be an issue of how I’m doing the 1/1 RTC?
