HOLY MOTHER OF ALL!!!
Do you know that when USPS raises their rates in January the Priority rates will be raised by zone. Eight zones to be exact. With some of them only having a 10 cent difference. Seriously?!! Could you make it more difficult?
Do you know what this means? This means no stamps. This means it is all metered by hand.
I have been busting my hump the past few weeks trying my dead level best to keep the price down and then USPS goes and makes a price increase that costs in dollars and cents and also in labor and time. Way to go!
I can’t even talk about how we now have to do the international packages. I swear I will not be surprised if they want us to stand on our heads while twirling batons and yodeling in order to ship a package.
Seriously bummed, and pissed enough to meet with the Postmaster in Portland next week.
Announcements | November 24, 2009
Most of you should be getting your shipping notifications from USPS. We are doing our best to get everything out today and tomorrow.
Sorry for the delay we had a bunch of issues this time around and I kept thinking it would all resolve in time and it did not.
Every once in awhile we have one of “those” shipments where almost everything goes wrong and as much as I did not want to read the writing on the wall about this one it was never the less true. I am sorry that the ones that take longer to reach their destination are going out at the same time as the others are but felt that at this point they all just needed to ship.
I hope it does not colour your experience of this shipment. I am really excited about this one and cannot wait to see if you enjoy it also.
So while we are all waiting I have some questions for you.
Who is your current fav sock designer and why?
When do you the bulk of your knitting?
How many pairs of socks did you knit this year?
Who do you knit socks for?
oh and thanks so much for the feedback on the keychains. Very helpful.
There is a notice in your package this time out about Camp and next years sock club. So look for it. Mostly it tells you to check the Blue Moon site the second week in December when all of this will be there.
As Carol mentions below we still have our binder contest and Susan and Cockeyed and I have been working on ours.
(Be kind. I am not so good at this as I thought I would be. Seriously I am pretty disappointed in myself. Oh well, getting over it)
All of the details on this one will be posted this Friday.
ok brief packaging break over. The playlists are really coming in handy this time out although I think if Joann hears another cover of Blackbird she might take me out.

From very last page of Queen of Beads Dyer Notes:
Binders. Your package contains a small club poster that will fit into any binder’s insert sleeve. We will be spending the year scrapbooking our own binders NSK style and at year’s end there will be a show-and-tell (and probably a contest) with some really rockin’ prizes. I will announce the categories on the blog soon so you have more creative information. You know what this means right? We are scrapbooking!
Will this will take place in December? Did Tina announce the categories and I missed it? I have my binder and the stickers all ready to be creative!

Today is my birthday and I wanted to say something as I look back on this last year and my first year in the RSC. I had some pretty high expectations for this club and I’ve grumbled about it recently. I’m not proud of that. When I first learned about RSC, it seemed this was the club to be in and the description made me want to give it a whirl. I must say that my knitting skills have definitely been stretched by the patterns in our shipments and my desire for more color in my life has been turned into quite a lusty one! I feel like a NSK in many ways!
The intimacy that was shared in the Dyer’s Notes are treasured gifts and the keychains and swag were fun. I know it has been a gigantic year for BMFA with the first ever Sock Summit and all the other events besides the club. I’m anxious, yet sad to receive this last shipment. I imagine it will be somewhat of a relief for everyone at BMFA to have this year for the sock club to be over. It’s been a great year, although it seems to have had its hurdles. I know I couldn’t have done anything close to being better.
I’m glad Tina recovered from the bump on her creative noggin. Although I’ve not met Tina in person, she’s shared so much of herself in the Dyer’s Notes, that I felt worry for a friend when everything went quiet. I was so relieved to finally hear she was okay. Like a selfish little kid, it also meant the next shipment would be on its way. I must admit, I was impatient at times this year and looked forward to notices and better communication to quell my unrealistic fear that the next shipment wouldn’t come or I’d miss out on something. So silly, but an addiction was growing and I really looked forward to a lot of fun. The RSC blog was quieter than I had expected, but I learned about Ravelry and that was an adventure in itself. Spoilers never ruined a thing for me! I’m glad I had Ravelry to turn to, but I hope the RSC blog will grow next year. It seemed like it should be a special, secret place for the club.
This year has met so many of my expectations. I know I am only one of many club members, but I felt a need to share this. It may not have been exactly as I had expected from the original announcement with all the things going on, but it was a ride I’d like to go on again. I wish for a whole lot of continued success for BMFA, but I hope it will be less eventful next year. I imagine World Domination was a pretty big bite to chew! I wish I could have been more a part of it somehow.
Despite a bump on the head, a lack of sleep, and not enough hours in the day, I want to thank you, Tina and all the Sockateers, for broadening my world of color and techniques and bringing the Notorious Sock Knitters World Domination Tour 2009 to my doorstep. It’s been like a perpetual birthday present! Now comes peace and prosperity and maybe a little preparation for next year’s awesome RSC, well at least after this last shipment! :o) How can you top the club for next year?

I love the little suckers! My favorite thing this year, though, was the wrist band. I wear it all the time.

I wanted to share what my mailbox looks like with 37 skeins of STR inside. She is thirsty for the Nov. RSC kit.

All this talk about the emergency sock yarn has got me wondering how renewing for next year works. (This was my first year.) When does the 2010 Sock Club open to current members? Thank you!

This is the first year as a sock club member and I do love the keychains. The other things just sort of “puzzled” me. However, I would be very happy if I could have directions on how to make my own. I love the dyers notes, it makes me feel like I am visiting a group of knitters, not being here on my own all the time. I will belong next year for sure. I am also wondering a bit about the puzzles and things that you all talk about..I feel like I am missing something important but the way the blog displays on my screen is very confusing. Is there someway to get notification of a new post or instructions on the guessing game? You will all think I am not very bright I guess…LOL Just a lone knitter way up in Northern Ontario.
