Big Calves

January '08 Kit Questions | January 28, 2008
By Jean

So, I saw the Big Feet post, so feel safe to post - I’ve got big calves - how do I adjust the pattern to fit?  Foot diameter 8.5″, but calves are 12″ (to make up for this, I was graced with a tiny waist :)) Usually I knit short sox, so 6.5″ will be either be too narrow or I will have to fold them over.  Suggestions gladly accepted! And Thanks - love the colorway.Jean

Big Foot Question

General Knitting Questions | January 27, 2008
By Jana

I’m a freshman sock club member and I have huge feet! Women’s size 11-12 depending upon the shoe brand. I’m worried that I won’t have enough yarn since I’ve never used STR before. Will there be more available to purchase if I run out?

Heel Trouble?

Notorious Sock Knitters | January 27, 2008
By Amy

I’m at the heel and I’m knitting a medium, which is 66 stitches or 6 repeats. So, the directions for the heel say that I should be working back and fourth over 39 stitches for a medium…is that right? It seems like I should be working over 33 stitches but that’s for the small? How do I center the stitches? From the picture it looks like a point should be the center-back of the heel, but then I have to take an odd number of stitches from either side and it will interrupt the pattern repeat on the top of the sock…Am I just being dumb or whut? HELP

Colorway question

Notorious Sock Knitters | January 27, 2008
By Lindsay

Hey:) For those of you who ordered a binder…..Does anyone know what the colorway is that’s pictured on the back that’s prodominantly darkish green with some purple? I love it and it doesn’t look familiar to me. It’s in the one picture that shows skeins in a box or something. The other skeins there are blue and red.

Just 2 1/2 more months!

Camp Crows Feet | January 27, 2008
By Stariel

I was at sock camp last year, and I’m sure some of you remember me since I am a bit of a troublemaker. ;)

I’m so excited to be going again this year! Do any of you have plans to get together for a Seattle yarn crawl before camp or carpool to Anacortes? I’ll be flying in and staying with family over the weekend for my birthday but if people wanted to meet up early on Monday that would be fun. :)

For all of you who are looking forward to your first year at sock camp, it was a BLAST! I didn’t get half as much knitting done as I thought I would. Last year they sent out an info pack before camp telling us what supplies we needed and giving some “homework” to complete before camp.

I guess the only real “tip” I have is that most of Orcas Island isn’t open (it’s not the tourist season yet) so food options for dinner are pretty much limited to eating at the resort - but don’t worry they have a pretty good range of food. We did go out one time while I was there to a really nice little restaurant, but I think it was one of very few that were open. The resort is also pretty far out of the main “town” area so it’s not easy to just pop over there all the time.

Oh and get to the ferry early!

Hope to see you there!

It’s here on Long Island, NY, and I’m already done with the leg, and am heading to the heel! Great pattern, incredible color!! In order to avoid poser status, the 2008 plan is to immediately commence RSC knitting, no matter what else is on the needles.GailÂ
